Hello all and thank you for taking the time to read my post today.

As many of you may or may not be aware, House Bill 1439 (2021-22) will be coming up before the Washington state transportation committee again this year. For those that are not familiar with the bill, it is a bill to legally allow surplus military vehicles to be legally licensed in the state of Washington and allow said vehicles' use on public highways.

I am reaching out to the community to ask you all to reach out to your representatives in support of this bill. Needless to say, this is a common sense bill that will allow road-worthy vehicles to operate on the road.

If you should feel the need to go the extra mile, you can also reach out to the following sponsors of this bill and encourage them to bring this bill up for a hearing:
• Rep. Ed Orcutt - primary sponsor (https://app.leg.wa.gov/pbc/memberEmail/20/2)
• Rep. Jenny Graham - co-sponsor (https://app.leg.wa.gov/pbc/memberEmail/6/2)
• Rep. Mike Volz - co-sponsor (https://app.leg.wa.gov/pbc/memberEmail/6/1)
• Rep. Jake Fey - Transportation Committee Chair (https://app.leg.wa.gov/pbc/memberEmail/27/2)

I have already reached out to all of the above stated individuals as well as my district representatives. With enough support from the public, this bill should have a solid chance this year.

Thank you all for your time and efforts in the community.

God bless America.
DAN

P.S. Mods, I wasn't sure what the etiquette was for posting links to representatives. Please advise if I did it wrong!

Some states are much easier then others, fortunately, all three of mine were sold as surplus in the late 40's and 50's, with titles and licences, so it hasn't been the challenge some of the newer rigs have to go through!

Best of luck, hope it passes and you don't have to go through all those stupid hoops anymore!

So my take is the main thrust of this proposal is to allow military vehicles under 30 years old to qualify for Collector Vehicle plate status? Rather than have to wait the full 30 year requirement as it currently stands?

That is correct yes.

The intent behind it is because the WA State DOL, per their own verbiage, will not license most surplus vehicles due to the lack of FMVSS certification.

This state is definitely one of the more difficult to deal with in this regard.

Thanks very much!
