Hello, my wife and I Just moved to Vancouver yesterday after driving for 3 days. I'm active army working in the area.

I love to Pew and open to any advice in areas to shoot, Shops that take care of military, etc.

FYI-I miss my ffl in Dallas, TX that never charged me a dime for transfers 😭. Plus he's cool enough to hold a bunch of my guns and admit 25,000 in rounds since I Was stationed in CA in 2018.i just came from commiefornia.

Assigned recruiter duty (most likely) in leftist BLM/AFTIFA country?

…. lucky YOU! ;)

Welcome Aboard. Glad you found the forum. Thanks for standing up and raising your hand to protect our great Nation.

This is the best place to hang out on the internet.

Once we're able to start using the public lands again, check out the organized clean ups. It's the best way to meet the community and learn where and how to use public lands responsibly.

[Edit- We are doing non ODFW supported cleanups at public forests] - check the North Fork Wolf Creek Road thread in resources.

Until then check out Trash No Land.

Welcome to Vancouver.

Check out Clark Rifles if you can find a member on the forum to take you. It is private club in the hills east of town.

Wow Portland is that bad? I'll try to keep my business in Vancouver and only go to Portland if I Really have to.
Portland proper - I avoid parts of it yes. Downtown, especially after dark when Antifa is rioting. Some parts of north Portland I generally avoid. If I had to I would go there, but I had not had to go near downtown in over a year - just the highway thru it.

Sad - although I dislike cities - Portland has some good restaurants and food carts/etc. Others may go if they wish - it isn't worth it to me. I absolutely will not work there ever again.

Now outside of Portland proper - the satellite areas - not bad.

I guess it is relative - I've seen worse. I used to work in downtown Seattle, and that is worse - it was worse ten years ago when I worked there than it is in Portland now - and Seattle has gotten worse yet.

Most of the Portland area isn't that bad. The (admittedly, all too frequent) riots are mostly limited to a small section of the downtown core, after dark. No reason to be there at that time anyway, as most of the pubs and restaurants are closed.

That's just my opinion as an inner SE Portland resident, but different people will have different comfort levels. With a little situational awareness, I've never felt unsafe in my neighborhood. So, if you choose to stay away, that's more outdoor seating for me at my favorite local establishments. Cheers 🍻

Oh, and welcome to the area. There's so much to do within a 2 hour drive. Coast, mountains, high desert. Enjoy.

Portland isn't that bad. It's a $hit hole but nothing to be afraid of. Just keep a good head on your shoulders and you'll be fine.

welcome to the forum,it's a great site.

what happens is people in Van. shop Portland to save paying sales tax. These days if I still lived there I'd pay the tax and stay in Van. just for the safety factor.
.vancouver/clark county has grown so much ,shooting places 'in the hills' ...geeeze are there any left ? IDK

Thanks for your service !

..

they used to say keep portland weird, now I think their slogan is keep portland confused... depending on which block you are on, you can have high end shopping, high rises, or a homeless encampment. I'm trying to figure out what portland wants to be as a city... they seem confused as to what a good city should look like and operate like.

... Welcome aboard...
