I know hindsight is 20/20 but the likelihood of her surviving the dog bites were probably fairly high. I guess we don't know all of the details yet.
 
IF your going to step into a situation like that, imo, you should get up close and point blank that dog into the head while holding the nap of its neck. Keep muzzle control always.

Stuff like this leaves me shaking my head. I too, assuming dog was on her, would run up and put the muzzle on the damn dog. Very likely someone who watched too much TV and tried to shoot the dog from some distance. What's the old line, bullets don't go where you wish them too, they go where you point them.
