In the ballpark of Lancaster Mall in Salem, I prep a decent bit. Ice storm outage, used my solar powered trailer to solder up a bunch of electrical cables for custom connecting solar panels to battery banks and charging systems... I put together a portable diesel electric heater While back, works great for all kinds of things...

Cool!

I was thinking that since good preparation for the economic collapse and the other calamities that we may be facing require neighbors to come together, we should start meeting our like minded neighbors.

I am very serious about my preparations for a severe economic downturn and such. Anyone else in Oregon city/Beaver Creek thinking like this? Send me a PM and let's chat.

What about the rest of you? If you are interested in meeting your like minded neighbors considerleaving a note here.

I am in Ridgefield WA. I am looking for like minded people. I am willing to help others in anyway I can.

Arihead11 - OK go over to Ilani and bet $25000 on Khamzat (UFC) to win. If he does, bring me my $$. If he loses, forgive the debt. That would be helpful.
I get the theory here. Being solo sucks and is bad strategy. With all the crap coming it would be nice to bond and work with others. However, without fail, the old line "No good deed goes unpunished" comes to mind. I am about 50% as generous and giving to others as I used to be. I swear every time that saying comes back to haunt me.

I checked - the Sportsbook is not open yet, but will be soon. They are busy complying/kissing WA state rear end with the thermometers and face diapers in order to receive the final go ahead. That is exactly what the guy on the phone said hahaha.
Ilani is like a giant Home Depot with all the games muted or at vol level 1, so it doesn't have an LV casino vibe at all, but hey, it is close. https://ilaniresort.com/gaming/sports-wagering.html
Sorry for the off-topic.

I do wonder how bad its going to get. I was out at cascade station in Portland OR today. Shopping and having lunch with the family. It was packed. Everyone must be Christmas shopping early?

On the road recently OR to MT and back. Noticeably fewer trucks than times past. Good for our road travel. Bad implications for overall current situation.

Talking with relatives (we were gathered to remember a family member who just passed :( ) I came away pessimistic. The ex cops - both now consultants - said on that front things aren't getting better. But on the bright side there's a future in private security! Others were in Mexico last month; cartels have "moved hard" into the town where their ex-pat relative lives. (IMO he's too stupid to leave, didn't want to insult anyone so kept that to myself, but they were visibly concerned, frustrated, and IMO thought the same thing.) And one who's well placed in mfg/logistics said price increases haven't really hit home with the common folk yet. But they will. When I asked how he's doing he said he's making bank, and the job has never been more stressful. Trade offs...

So yeah, I don't doubt folks are buying now. Later doesn't look cheaper.

Yep if you haven't stocked up with extras of the consumables. The clock is ticking. I' hoping one contact finally pays me so I have some extra cash to buy some more stuff! If you find a decent deal get it now cause you might not be able to shortly. Especially if we have a major correction.

This thread is a great idea. I'm not a meet-and-greet type of person either, but there is a lot of benefit to expanding your local prep network. What better way to find bartering partners.

Some of us live in the city and some of us live in the country, but only a few miles from each other. The city guy may want to start a garden but doesnt have the property for it. The country guy has the property, but may not have a background in gardening to start one effeciently. What a great way to make partnerships that helps us all reach our prep'ing goals.

I think that because many of us are relatively geographically separated. I could meet up with anyone from the south Sound area, and then some. I don't know Oregon's city placement, so that makes it difficult for me to visualize where everyone is "on the map." Also, some people are cool with sharing information and knowledge, but might not be the most social type of person... so that might explain some people's reluctance to meet.

That being said, I am totally cool with sharing what I know, whether it be practical experience, academic, or theory. I am also cool with meeting with anyone within a reasonable distance to chit chat over coffee, beers, or an afternoon in the woods... whether that be shooting, or practicing "bush craft." I am not as experienced as some, but outside of the outdoors enthusiast scene, I suppose I would be considered either knowledgeable, or a whack job... take your pick. Lol.
I live in the greater Tacoma area, and am also somewhat reluctant about meet ups. I don't mind chatting on here for a while, but I draw the line just before joining a "paramilitary" club. (Long story, I might tell some other time)

I work in a medical facility and I'm quite surprised at how many people broach the topic of prepping, survival, or even EMPs. It's like something you're not supposed to talk about, but if you get someone one-on-one in a little room, they talk.
