I'm trying to understand the media's recent list of reasons for Portland's sharp increase in gun "criminal violence".

The #1 reason is stated as "Gun sales are up", maybe paraphrased but close enough.

I need some help here; law-abiding Oregonians are entering gun stores, submitting to criminal background checks, enduring ridiculous delays and finally gaining possession of what they paid for.

Then, they run around downtown Portland shooting people and committing other violent felonies?

How on earth do they come up with these causative lists which they proudly display on TV, and actually expect people to take them seriously, ever again?

I have a slight difference of opinion: I don't think gun sales have anything to do with the staggering increase in violent crime in PDX (and Seattle, and Minneapolis, and Chicago, and Detroit, and Oakland, and New Orleans, et al). I think it all has to do with the empowering of violent criminals by wokes in government -- absolutely worthless DAs like Mike Schmidt (Multnomah), John Hummel (Deschutes), and Matt Ellis (Wasco) who would just as soon hand out free Cadillacs before putting a thug behind bars. Add to the mix Gavin Newscum, Kate Brownshirt, Jay Dimslee, and mayors like Jacob Smallfrye (the effete boy mayor of Minneapolis who let the ANTIFA mob burn his Third Precinct WITH POLICE OFFICERS INSIDE), Melvin Carter (St. Paul), the pathetic Ted Wheeler who allowed Portland thugs to literally chase him out of his Pearl District condo, Jenny Durkan who allows homeless to sh!t where they please and shoot junk in school playgrounds, black supremacist Lori Lightfoot who got her haircut 'cuz I gotta look good and all ya'll miserable peasants can eff yourselves...' not to mention hundreds of Obama-era local, state, and federal judges, these woke extreme proggie lockstep social justice warriors have all sent a very clear message to the feral class: Rape, rob, murder, go for it. Hey come on fella, get with the program here! It's called 'gun safety' now. See we don't want to control your guns -- you pushed back too hard on that. But really now... are you actually going to sit there and oppose SAFETY??????? (Want to know what we mean by gun safety? It's whatever the wokes tell us to repeat on CNN and our blog posts).

What these idiots don't realize is we've been practicing gun safety (the Four Rules) for just about a century after Jeff Cooper formalized them into the code that has become our mantra. I really hate the negative stigma around guns! I remember the last family reunion people were treated me like I committed a crime because I carry.. Even when I go through the proper channels, get my CHL, do the training they still don't accept me simply because I enjoy firearms. Every time I hear or see that some irresponsible person shot someone I get pissed because I know regardless of how I carry; uneducated people seem to want to lump all gun owners as criminals. I specifically like to bring those type of people to the gun range and give them a positive experience in hope of charging their perception of firearms!
