Here's the low-down on the Anderson Butte conflicts. (Actually, they are the same conflicts that are happening all over the Northwest on public lands. This one is on high alert because of BLM proposing to close shooting for 2 years. That's a big concern to us because it won't fix or solve the problem, it will only delay it.)

Special Thanks to the BLM in Medford, OR! They are the host our cleanup event. We wish to show our appreciation for their daily management of the multiple recreation opportunities in the Anderson Butte area. They have plenty to deal with and a trashy forest should not be part of it! So when you see a BLM rep, give a wave and a hand shake and let them know you appreciate their efforts.

BLM will be providing our dumpster, disposal and trash bags and we thank you for that!

I've been too busy to stop and report! Will try to sum up a little now (more when I get back from my mini vacation, in a few days).

We had about 9 volunteers, plus some kids, a couple who didn't sign in and 5 BLM staff. All totalled was about 18 people. Most of the volunteers were off roaders, but thanks to @techieguy and @Rem700..300 & his wife, we had a small firearms community represented. Too bad! We needed to reach local shooters!

Little did I know, we were competing with SOC graduation and a big car show. That, along with the Fathers Day weekend, put the curb on volunteering considerations.

So we did what we could and removed about 15 to 20 yards of trash. Had a good BBQ lunch and everyone won a prize.

The BLM was real impressed with our efforts, the message we deliver and the genuine concern we have for promoting responsible shooting. They would love to have our ongoing presence in the Medford area (actually , they need a strong presence of responsible shooters and are hoping we can find someone to pick up the ball and run with it.)

I do have pics but will have to wait until I get back (mom doesn't have internet service in Klamath and I'm not great at doing it on the cell phone).

Say, @Joe Link , Mr. @techieguy needs some green added to his status! He's a great guy and was real pleased to meet him.
