We'd like to think so, but after a while we get around to Thomas Sowell's epigramLaws are supposed to be based on facts and not ideas (or out of state bribes).
It's entirely reasonable to argue that gun laws won't work, but that's because generally we are not politicians; the gun laws may make no sense about guns, but they work a treat for getting voters to turn out.No one will really understand politics until they understand that politicians are not trying to solve our problems. They are trying to solve their own problems - of which getting elected and re-elected are number one and number two. Whatever is number three is far behind.
