Lead by good ole mayor bloomberg; who took a legal product and made it into a black market product where people get killed. (cigarettes and taxes)

Who doesn't need guns, but his body guards need them.

Mayor of a city which only allows the famous or very wealthy the tools for self defense. (out of a city of 8 million only 3000 legal permits... memory kinda bad so trust, but verify)

And lest we forget, a city that wants to ban salt in cooking.

Glad I moved, now if I can just find a frikin' job here.

Take note: billionaire Bloomberg is a conservative Republican, yet he is devoted to disarming the public so that only the rich and powerful and their bodyguards can have guns. After spending over one HUNDRED million dollars of his personal fortune to get re-elected to a third term as Mayor of New York city, he is outraged that he cannot control the gun laws of states nearby to New York. LOTS of "Conservatives" and "Republicans" are earnestly FOR MORE gun rights restrictions.

I cannot forget a statistic I found back around 1980: Manhattan then had an official homeless population of 160,000; and Manhattan then had 16,000 stretch limosines registered (not counting regular non-stretch limos.) So, there were ten homeless for every stretch limo in 1980. I cannot imagine what that ratio must be nowadays! No wonder the filthy rich are afraid of a population of ordinary citizens owning firearms---they are more and more terrified of an "uprising" of the homeless. Think of it: nearly every large urban area where the richest folks congregate and make the laws has the strongest gun control. And all other areas of the country where ordinary working people are the vast majority have the least gun control. So, who's your daddy?..............................elsullo :D

Two thoughts...

#1: Idiots trying to take away rights are on both sides of the isle.

#2: A very good post/observation. Nothing more fun then watching those that got crazy rich trying to keep others down so they don't have to share the pie.

Conservative?? Come on elsullo, get yer facts straight!
Mayors Against Illegal Guns - Conservapedia
The Mayors Against Illegal Guns Coalition is a leftist political coalition of mayors from about 400 United States cities, with a stated agenda of "making the public safer by getting illegal guns off the streets." The group was formed by Boston Mayor Thomas Menino and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg. The coalition's CEO is Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley.

The majority of members of the Mayors Against Illegal Guns Coalition are Democrats.
Portland's mayor, the illustrious/infamous/nefarious boy chaser is among them.
Indicted, convicted, and scandalized members

A substantial number of member of the coalition have been indicted in recent months, on felony charges. Here in the US, conviction of felony means the immediate loss of both the right to vote and the right to own a gun for the rest of one's life. This is an organization that espouses doing away with "illegal guns", yet a surprising number of their members have made choices in their lives that have set themselves on the path to being disenfranchised from ever owning a gun. <snip>
The following is a list of mayors that USED to be members, and some quit because they say the agenda of the "coalition" is the same as the Brady Bunch.
End all gun ownership!
Twelve mayors that had been members[66] have withdrawn from the organization, claiming either that they were misled about the group's anti-gun platform, or that they were enrolled in the coalition without their knowledge.[67][68][69] They are:

* Idaho Falls, Idaho Mayor Jared Fuhriman[70]

* Carmel, Indiana Mayor James Brainard

* Rio Rancho, New Mexico Mayor Kevin Jackson[71]

* Anchorage, Alaska Mayor Mark Begich[72]

* Oldmans Township, New Jersey Mayor Harry Moore[73][74][75]

* Walton Hills, Ohio Mayor Marlene Anielski,[76]

* Williamsport, Pennsylvania Mayor Mary B. Wolf[77][78]

* Madeira Beach, Florida Mayor Patricia Shontz[79]

* Knoxville, Tennessee Mayor Bill Haslam[80][81]

* Warsaw, Indiana Mayor Ernest B. Wiggins[82]

* Sioux Falls, South Dakota Mayor Dave Munson[83]

* Houston, Texas Mayor Bill White[84]

In her resignation letter, Mayor Patricia Shontz of Madeira Beach, Florida wrote, “I am withdrawing because I believe the MAIG is attempting to erode all gun ownership, not just illegal guns. Additionally, I have learned that the MAIG may be working on issues which conflict with legal gun ownership.” She added, “It appears the MAIG has misrepresented itself to the Mayors of America and its citizens. This is gun control, not crime prevention.”[79]

In his resignation letter to Bloomberg, Mayor Harry Moore stated: "It is simply unconscionable that this coalition, under your leadership, would call for a repeal of the Shelby /Tiahrt amendment that helps to safeguard criminal investigations and the lives of law enforcement officers, witnesses and others by restricting access to firearms trace data solely to law enforcement. How anyone, least of all a public official, could be willing to sacrifice such a law enforcement lifeline in order to gain an edge in suing an industry they have political differences with is repugnant to me. The fact that your campaign against this protective language consisted of overheated rhetoric, deception and falsehoods is disturbing."[85]

Cleveland is hopelessly addicted to the fallacy of gun control

Cleveland is hopelessly addicted to the fallacy of gun control

The mayoral gun control movement has become one of the most cynical disinformation campaigns in American history.

The Ohio Supreme Court this week heard oral arguments in the case of City of Cleveland v. State of Ohio. The outcome will determine whether Ohio's cities can enact firearms restrictions above and beyond existing state law. If the State of Ohio prevails, gun laws will remain uniform throughout the state. If Cleveland prevails, municipalities will be free to create a patchwork of conflicting ordinances that could turn law-abiding gun owners into felons as they simply drive from one township to the next.

The most intriguing question in this case is why the City of Cleveland has insisted on advancing the nonsensical idea of contradictory gun laws. Second Amendment awareness and advocacy today have reached the clearest crescendo since the American Revolution, and goofy gun laws are about the last thing Ohio — including Cleveland — needs to stem its exodus of college graduates or to attract new business.

Why would Cleveland's politicians fight to turn their city into an enclave known for capricious firearms restrictions?

Consider these points:

1. America's large cities are the nation's fountainhead of crime and social deterioration. Mayors and city councils are the primary front-line tacticians charged with controlling and fixing this problem.
2. The problem likely requires complex, long-term remediation, involving profound changes in the criminal justice system, public schools, and other major institutions.
3. In the meantime, mayors and city councils appear incompetent and ineffective.
4. To create the immediate appearance of competence and effectiveness, politicians in charge of large cities must substantially divert the public's attention from #2 above to a substitute issue they claim is the "real problem" and on which they seem up to the task. This decoy issue is "gun control." Note: The decoy requires its sponsors to constantly ignore or deny decades of scientific inquiry which have established that law-abiding armed citizens reduce crime. (See More Guns, Less Crime: Understanding Crime and Gun Control Laws, 3rd edition, by John Lott.)
5. Nevertheless, experienced city politicians employ this decoy argument as a permanent cover story: They can forever claim that their tireless effort to control guns (despite that darn Constitution) bestows the mantle of heroic leadership, while their inability to control guns (that darn Constitution) certifies their blamelessness for deteriorating cities.

And that brings us back to Cleveland.

The city must fight for its own firearms laws because its leaders are intractably immersed in — and hopelessly addicted to — the red-herring fallacy of gun control. For Cleveland and cities like it, this was nearly inevitable. Hollywood filmmakers for decades have spuriously portrayed guns as archetypal tools of evil — a Lotto jackpot for city politicians. Harnessing the awesome power of a pervasive pop-culture stereotype, mayors and city councils have found it more expedient to manipulate public sentiment with Hollywood-inspired gun anxiety than to create a cogent plan for the restoration of order and safety in their cities. As Oscar Wilde observed, life imitates art more than art imitates life.

Let's hope for a victory in City of Cleveland vs. State of Ohio, but let's also hope that people see the case for what it truly is: proof that the mayoral gun control movement, now a mature institution in American politics, has become one of the most cynical disinformation campaigns in American history.

Politicians are great wordsmiths, aren't they? The Mayor never lied once in the article, but he never told the truth once, either.

The only stats regarding illegal use of guns that he presents are the relative RATES of appearance across state lines. Not once does he mention absolute numbers, because they would reveal unequivocally that crimes committed with legally purchased guns that are then transported across state lines are INSIGNIFICANT compared to the criminal misuse of illegally acquired guns - which are usually stolen.

Hey, Mr. Mayor - How about just making crime illegal? You could put up a sign!

No, he's not, the only reason he's a republican is that he wasn't far left enough to run as a democrat, so he switched parties. The republicans, desperate to have any successes in NYC agreed. Also, he declared himself "independent" a couple years back.

You are spot on. Blumberg is a RINO, exactly the creature that the Republicans are attempting to cull from the herd. He is a liberal that ran on the Republican ticket, not a conservative bone in his brain.

95% of the anti-gun crowd are Democrats, for some unknown reason.
