Did someone forget to send the memo to Seattle informing them of the thousands of years of evidence that weapons bans have not stopped crime? The fantasy of a magic law that will end violent crime needs to be replaced with the reality of tough steps to control criminals, not inanimate objects.
Remember, you're dealing with people who want to feel safe, not be safe. You can't reason with those who are unreasonable to begin with. The only way to ensure a gun free environment is with metal detectors, strip searches, and a hierarchy of security at all locations. Doing that might make an environment gun free, but it still won't guarantee the safety of those in it.
