so I'm somewhat new to mausers, for some reason the firing pin doesn't protrude when it's installed on the rifle, If I engage it out of the rifle in the position it should be in the rifle and take the safety off and go boom firing pin protrudes. Any idea of why?

Which Mauser do you have and can you post photos of the rear of the bolt when cocked and then fired? Does your Mauser have an after market trigger?
