Mods, if there is a more appropriate place for this, please move. I confess with three different legal/political related forums (Firearms Laws and Legal, Firearm Legislation and Activism, Legal & Political), I'm not always sure where things should go. With that said, however, this is a very big deal and one that has very big ramifications for all gun owners so perhaps it's better suited for the "General" forum for the sake of visibility. But I defer to your excellent judgment. :)

The Massachusetts State Attorney General took it upon herself to selectively reinterpret it's existing AWB law and issued a notice today, banning the further sale of all "assault weapons" effective immediately.

It's almost like they're in a contest with California trying to see which state can crap on the Constitution more.

She said that all that she was doing was closing the "copycat" loophole.

Here is the text of her full public announcement at the link down below, for anyone that wants to read her full statement of why she was doing this.

She said that she was forced to act on her own, due to inaction by the US Congress.

But she did throw gun owners this bone: "We recognize that most residents who purchased these guns in the past believed they were doing so legally, so this directive will not apply to possession of guns purchased before Wednesday."

Wow, as a native New Englander, I'm appalled. Appalled at the fact that a mere 240 years ago, Massachusetts threw off the chains of bondage and tyranny and fought the King of England.

Now, 240 years later are the perveyors of the chains of bondage and tyranny.

The birthplace of America has gone full socialist and superseded California as the most restrictive state in the union.

Appearantly, Massachusetts is exempt from following the Bill of Rights and the Constitution of the United States...

Ladies and gentlemen, once again, Massachusetts is the site of the "shot heard around the world"

Look for other states to follow. Looks like the liberals want a fight in the streets for the citizens rights, so be it.

Mass has been full retard for a while...

Never got into gun ownership while I lived there (born & raised). Escaped once for a year & half, went back due to family obligations, and finally escaped for good this time.

The last time I lived there I thought about getting into this as a sport/hobby/self protection. It was honestly too expensive & convoluted to do.

Out here...same day I recieved my real (plastic) drivers license I bought a handgun (saw it was on special, one I had been wanting to purchase).

My BGC cleared & the clerk said I was all set. I asked him seriously, so how long is the waiting period? 2 days or 5...he looked at me like I had 3 heads!...

-Back in Mass, the last time I thought about getting into firearms you couldn't even buy .22lr ammunition without a permit...or so I was informed.

License to carry? Just about forget it, unless your made of $. THEN it's up to your police chiefs discretion...much of Metro Boston was just a blanket no go. Again my understating...

I say we ban them both from the union...

Give them back to Britain. They want to act like good little subjects of the king/queen, let 'em have it. Then we'll invade, take them back and put them back under the Constitution once again.

I am sick about how many Americans are actually behind crap like this. I have more to say, but it will get me in a lot of trouble on this site, so it will remain deep inside...

If S&W remains quiet about this new threat to our rights I will certainly not be buying any of their products. Which would be a sad thing because I just found a guy who could get me the 460 in a 5''. :(

I don't have much sympathy for gun owners who stay in these places. And it annoys me S&W does too.

People ought to move to places that suit them. If all the gun prohibitionists would please move to CA and MA then we wouldn't have to put up with them. And then they could live with the consequences of their position (that is, more crime). Likewise if gun owners from CA and MA would move here, they would actually be useful, reinforcing us. They are worthless if they stay in these states.

It will be interesting to see if the federal government steps in (I'm not holding my breath o_O ). After all, the 2nd Amendment was actually "incorporated" in the 14th Amendment, right? And the 1934 court decision says it means military arms, right?

Wow, so now you don't even have to be an unelected Governor like Kate Brown to pen Executive Orders against gun owners and the Second Amendment... What's next - Surgeon Generals declaring gun ownership a lethal disease? Gun ownership = mental disease as defined by the State = confiscation and institutionalism (for your safety, dontcha know...).

Confiscation is next in Mass - you can bet your life on it.

State Motto:
Ense petit placidam sub libertate quietem
"By the sword we seek peace, but peace only under liberty."

Unless it has a shoulder thing that goes up!

^^^That would be great to see. Manufactures of magazines, firearms and ammunition all boycott the state and refuse to sell their products. All the same with disclaimers for on line sales stating no sales to anyone related to .gov in that state.

The LEO in Mass will now carry 2nd hand gen 1 glocks that are all shot out and will have to have a neighboring state sell them new barrels and parts.

I like it.

I don't believe you should leave your part of the planet you've invested so much in. These so called law makers are the problem. We have a process in America.

Hopefully people will see this only works when your side is in power. When it flips, who will be left crying? Want abortion, gay marriage, toilet privileges taken away, adoption rights..? Keep pushing
