This is a "recent" production gun (as far as True Marlin goes) that has a significantly fatter barrel than most previous. How do I know this?

I have that very gun. It is a lever-action target rifle.

How fat is the barrel? I have a 1955 and a 56' Mountie. Mine look pretty fat to me, especially for a .22 and both are serious tack drivers.

Mine calipers out at .709 at the muzzle. Perty fat fer a huntin' gun. Shorties (Mountie) might even be fatter (with less distance to taper).
