I have a beautiful looking 1894CS with JM stamp (made in 1996 before Remington). The hardware is in great shape, and not a scrape or mar on the bluing.

This is the 18.5" barrel, and bolt safety. He wants to be paired with your .357 pistol to truly made this levered boy happy.

  1. I agree to the classified rules and terms of service
Can someone explain the cross bolt vs non-cross bolt safety? Is one preferred over the other, and if so, why? Thanks!

I think it is purely owner's preference. Since At least early 90's (maybe late 80s not sure) the Marlin rifles were coming out the safety included.

Marlins (lever guns all over) are hunting rifles and this is an extra feature. The safety is only an aspect of the gun, and doesn't improve or take away from the rifle at all.

IMHO the safety is normally off in most cases. Its just there.
