Market For Farm Raised Fallow Deer

    I have family members close to the Portland area with a few Fallow Deer that are grain feed. They are talking about have sting a few. I there much of a market to sell the meat?

    More info needed I think. Price? On the hoof or processed?

    There might be more money in letting people "hunt" the ones to be culled.

    If they were grass fed and had no antibiotics or hormones injected, yes. Grain fed...I doubt it. Perhaps to some yuppy restaurant in Portland or Seattle.

    It would be on the hoof, they are grass fed, but during the winters they are fed alfalfa & grain to supplement. Someone could be there when they are shot, but not the shooter due to safety reasons.

    $1.00 per pound on the hoof, or $1.70 hanging.

    I might be interested in your deer. Were they raised in a noisy environment? Exposed to any other abusive animals like dogs?

    Do you have names for them? Do you believe their self esteem to be high? What were their parents like? Nurturing or distant?

    Fainting goats are mo bedda.. when you whip out your pig sticker, they are already all splayed out, ready for the knife/BBQ. good yums
