Wow. The last sentence in that article is meant to drum up fear and make people scared because it shows that it still has an effect on somebody 40 years later.

    What shoddy reporting.

All it is is an 03 FFL license. Just an application and some $$. I have one, and prior to SB941 in Oregon, yes, you could have a Curio/Relic gun sent directly to your home under that license. SB941 now blocks that FEDERAL licence and still requires you, with your FFL license, to go through an 01 FFL for the transfer.

    Complete and total B.S.

So according to the article to get a C&R

More states should be like IL and NJ and do background checks for those applying for an 03 FFL:rolleyes:.

Yes. Your form is submitted to the BATF, with a copy going to your local Sheriff's office. It's really pretty easy to do. I'm just ticked that SB941 made no allowance for 03 FFL holders, which they did intentionally, just as they ignored CHL holders.

In other states without such restrictions, it's a nice way to save money and time when buying C&R guns.

same background check as a dealer. plus you keep a book the ATF can inspect at any time (like a dealer) and you have to inform your sheriff that you have a license.

also remember to thank Prozanski for killing the C&R in oregon on purpose. he said so himself. specifically left it out as an exemption in SB 941. Prozanski thinks passing a federal background check and keeping a log book and informing your sheriff of your collection makes you a crazy baby murderer.

You wouldn't actually expect them to tell the truth would you?

of course. You have to get a 03 Federal Firearm License. The ATF licenses you after your Federal FBI background check. Its a license that has to be renewed every few years. the ATF can come to you house and ask for your log book at any time.

now here is the trick for future sanity. Assume every article in every source of media for every topic is equally as wrong as this one. :D

If anything the AK47 was developed to compete with the Sturmgewehr 44 or as a refinement of the concept.....The SKS was always semi auto and was seen as an upgrade for the conscripted Soviet infantryman from the Mosin, to the Tokarev, to the SKS.....More likely it came out of all the urban fighting where you didn't need a full size cartridge with an effective range of 600 plus yards

But the fact is, other than a Kurz or short round the Simonov has almost nothing that can be seen comparable to the STG-44, which was semi and full auto, the first mass produced, effective "Storm" rifle (Assault).
Gawd I hate amateur historians. Read a real book and realize wikipedia isn't always the gospel.
I say they are jumping on SKS as the weapon of choice so they can go after virtual all semi autos, not just AKs and ARs.
