Recently got my hands on a new production M82A1 Barrett. After reading through many forums I see a lot of "knowledge individuals" talking about how inaccurate the rifle is. One even mentioned it couldn't hit a barn from inside a barn.

The last couple weeks I've done some testing and here are the results. 100yds/ 3 shot groups. (Yes 5 is better but hey, it's kind of expensive)

The set up: solid rest, bipod, rear bag. Athlon Ares ETR, and double ear pro.

Thunder Ammo 750gr Amax. Had to hand load each as they are too long for the magazine. Unfortunately I forgot to measure it last week but about 1 1/2in group.

My conclusion is that like 99% of modern guns, accuracy comes from finding the correct projectile. The M82A1 is very capable of 1 MOA or better.

Looks about right. At 500 several weeks back, once we had it dialed in, we were pretty easily hitting a 12" plate. Impact marks were all over the plate but that was several shooters/makes/models of ammo. I don't think it's a match gun but I also don't believe the supposed "5 MOA" reputation some people give it. Congrats on the Barrett!! :D

Congrats, im jelly! Id love to have one of these. The "sbr'd" one with the supressor is super fun to shoot. Ive shot this variant as well a few times. Both are impressive.
Was never made to be a "sniper" weapon system.
Was made to hit minute of scud. I suspect handloading will result in near 1moa or slightly better pretty consistently. Maybe what barrett did with the m33 factory ammo? Just to prove out the system to new owners.
Id LOVE to have anything in 50 bmg. Whether semi or bolt.

Word of advice. Watch the MAC channel on YT he has a review on one and he describes disassembling it the wrong way and it near severed his thumb clean off.
So watch that and it will probably impress upon you enough to never make that mistake!

MAC wasn't thinking when he did that. Anyone with a basic understanding, which I assume MAC has, would know immediately not to disassemble it that way. He was cocky and has a permanent reminder of that.
