A friend of mine is fairly new to firearms and is very interested in M1 Garands. I can see an infatuation growing here. (I consider this a good thing)

Anyway, his birthday is coming up soon and I'd like to get him a good book on Garands. I've seen some decent reviews on Amazon of Jim Thompson's books. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Remember, he's just starting, so a good mix of history, facts, pics and identification would be great. Not too dry, not to comic-book.
