Was out in Tillamook for work the other day and stopped in. They were pretty well stocked up on ammo, most I'd seen on any shelves in months. Prices weren't that great but they said the stuff is selling. Just a heads up if anyone is in need, they had 9, 40, 45, 223 etc.

There is a reason he has stock, and that is the prices. Most would refuse to play. I was in there in February, he had some of everything, including small pistol primers, but 75 bucks for a brick? No thanks. I wouldn't bother with that guy.

I ventured into that place for the first time last month. I had to ask the attendant behind the counter to confirm that all the ammo prices were correct. Worse then every price gouging ad on the forums and gunbroker.com. Laughably bad prices. Hopefully that ammo stays on the shelf forever.

Oh yeah, they also had insanely overpriced pistols that the ticket said "comes with two clips"

Never again.

Who owns it now? I haven't been there for almost 20 years. Prices were always jacked then anyway.

Benjamin Hathaway. Google the name if you want to get an idea of this gentlemans varied business interests.

IMO Tillamook Sporting Goods has probably never operated in the black but likely serves another financial purpose for its owner and his broad business interests.

:s0114: Shady Ben was my first thought. You use the term "gentleman" quite loosely. I know a number of people that have had business dealings with him mostly bad. I can imagine theres been quite a bit more since I left the area. What a POS.

Yup you can't miss the house with all the razor wire around it. And it's right before the Cape Lookout park, well past the hatchery.

Yeah, he and his wife are all bat shat crazy.

Yeah, some of us locals think the store is a way to launder money. Because everybody knows about the limos and high end cars with blacked out windows going to his house on Kilchis Point. I've had my fair share of fully automatic weapons pointed at me while walking on the railroad tracks that goes past his house. Have friends that were hired to do some work for him, and once you leave your car, you have a armed guard escorting you through the house.

He does have some items that are at a fair price, but 90% of everything else is price gouged. He has stuff that has been in there for at least 20 years. Because Freddies across the street sells the same thing for 1/4 of the cost he wants. I need to get another gun case, and he has Plano double rifle cases for $36. And that's the same price I can get them online, or out in the valley at Bimart, Sportsmans and so on. I'll go in there just for shats and gaggles to see what he has.

Not to mention the boats being unloaded in the dead of night at the old Pollard farm and Kilchis point. Made the mistake of turning down the road at the Kilchis house to turn around back before anybody knew what was up. Only once....:s0131:

As a Tillamook Local, I can agree to all that was said here. We all think the guy that owns Tillamook Sporting Goods is a mob boss. I've heard stories to think that and the amount of bodyguards and automatic weapons on his property. I've heard the fully automatic weapons thing alot, its really crazy...

I'm not really sure how a person looks at a weapon and determines it to be "fully automatic" without a close inspection and hands-on function test, but it makes for a good story. ;)

10-year-old threads are great btw!!!!
