Or discouraging someone else from taking yours.
The "duty to retreat" must be a legal stipulation, because it damn sure isn't a moral one.
Self defense, by it's very nature explains that your life/limb/family has been endangered, and at that point one needs to be able to take the action necessary to preserve one's life. Retreating may simply mean you are shot in the back before your wallet/keys etc. is taken.

Good for PA, and the bipartisan support the bill received!

If you noticed, I pointed that out in my post. That is as it should be.
If more dems respected the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, they'd get more votes from the centrist portion of the electorate.
Did you notice they "joined" Republicans?
Unlike too many of the current crop nationally, that label the republican side the "no" side.

Of course, it is campaign/election season. Their stripes may be temporarily changed due to being in campaign mode. It could well be that they are just courting the gun crowd to get re-elected. What they do in non election years matters more.
