Is it over the top in overkill?
Methinks, why feed a Clydesdale when a quarter horse will do?
Go big or go home.
I subscribe to the group of people who carry what their local LEOs carry. The reason being if you have to shoot someone and end up in front of a jury, the last thing you want is the DA showing them of box of your "shoot them dead" ammo. Or in the case of your post you shot and or killed someone because you felt it was your civic duty to kill all bad guys.
I'll see you big, and raise you placement.
Might, isn't always right.
I'll stick with shot placement and JHP boolits.
This is what I use for home defense and also when I carry. It has a fully enclosed bullet nose filled with an expanding polymer that minimizes over-penetration through walls.
Local company in Rainier, Oregon.
45 Auto +P 175gr Xtreme - Grizzly Cartridge - Cast Performance
As "neat" as these rounds are, I also subscribe to using what the local LEO's use.
It is also classified as a ball round to get around the anti hollow point laws some states have.
The force is strong in this one.
Prefer 230gr JHPs in the .45. Lots of very good choices out there.
.45 ACP ammo is like sex.
When it's good. It's great!
And when it's bad. It's still good.
My 1911 is the gun I shoot the least. But yet, I think everybody should have at least one!
A Borg that can use the force, that's all we need.
That might be the end of the universe as we know it!
+1 on what my local police carry. If it's good enough for Starsky & Hutch...it's good enough for me.
Um, Starsky and Hutch shoot blanks!
...one for each hand.
When did they get vasectomies?!
