Ok last try :). Saw this not sure on if it's a good price for a cali gun but the website says it's available and under $1800.

Ruger Sr762 California compliant (3) 10rnd mags.

I considered the Ruger SR-762, but until they can remedy their rifle's tendency to jam on the first or second round I won't consider it reliable, or even worth $1800-2000. They also carry the Sig 716- sold out unfortunately.

Consider the Adams if you want a piston 308. I'm happy with mine (the free floated version) and here is a review of the basic rifle, which can be had for around $1,100:

The early ones had gas issues due to the ammo they used for prototyping, but that's been resolved.

Isn't it cheaper to just get the heck outta cali?:D

At the moment, unfortunately for me the answer is NO. My Father-in-law passed away last month, and my wife moved her Mom in with us. If my wife is happy, I'm happy- that's my story and I'm sticking to it. But my sister-in-law's daughter is pregnant, and Grandma will be helping with the baby once she comes into the world in a few months- moving in with her Granddaughter to help with her great granddaughter. We also need more equity before we sell our home here.

Despite these setbacks, my wife did say she would be willing to try living in Oregon- and in Salem too. I thought I would be stuck moving to Portland, Beaverton, or thereabouts and crawling around in traffic worse than CA, but she can get a job in her field at Salem Hospital since it's in demand and pays well (clinical informatics). I will continue to swing a hammer.

3MTA3,
Looks like a nice choice, and MUCH less expensive than the Sig 716. I will consider it at a later date, but you know how it goes once you set your heart on a rifle. My birthday is next week, and I deserve a nice rifle like a Sig Sauer 716. LOL.

Dang it Geno, by the time you can make it here it might be just as bad or worse as Cali. Don't know where you are at down there but there are parts of Nor Cal that are pure magic. There are still jobs up here swinging that hammer, you just have to look a bit.

Hope your SIL has an easy pregnancy and her child is happy and healthy.

Those are great and probably the best piston system out there. A bit heavy for my tastes, though - my Adams with scope, bipod, and 20 round mag doesn't weigh much more than a bare 716. What a great rifle, though! Enjoy and happy birthday!

3MTA3,
It's our niece who is pregnant-lol.

You seriously think Oregon is so bad that it will end up like Kommiefornia in 3-4 years? I hope not- one of the biggest things that makes Oregon such a great place to live, other than the clean air, abundant water, and green everywhere, is the people. The friends I made living in Oregon 20 years ago are still my friends now, despite me only seeing them a few times a year. The people of the Northwest are also more friendly, down-to- Earth, and alot less self absorbed than in CA. But I have noticed more Oregonians have taken up CA-style driving- people are driving 75-85 mph on the I-5, cutting each other off, and driving like CA douchebags (I suspect half are Californians).

I also think Oregon's (and Washington's) culture is one based on being outdoors, and the activities associated with it- as long as families shoot together, firearms will be a part of the culture and accepted. But I can see how Portlandia and it's liberal, pot-smoking Socialists could upset the traditions of the Northwest. I just don't see the rest of the state tolerating any anti-gun laws just because Portlandians vote it onto place. Please don't let it happen!

Portland and Eugene now rule the state and are getting ready to ride roughshod over the rest of it. Our Governor has announced several executive orders she will issue and has asked the liberal controlled legislature for a mag ban. In addition by this time next year we will be voting on an AWB, and I bet if the citizens don't pass it there will be one pushed through our legislature the following February.

Our legislature has taken to pushing everything through as an "emergency" to shortcut the normal process and additionally prevents the citizens from filing a voter ferendum against it. Their boot is firmly on our throats and the opposition party has no game and no desire to help us where the 2A is concerned.

I honestly don't know what it will take to wake up our citizens here. I love this place for all the reasons you said above and really don't want to have to leave or give up my freedom. I want an effing time machine so I can return to the days of sanity and freedom.

The time to have gotten a rifle would have been early this year, when this bill was introduced in the California state legislature. Knowing the anti-gun bias and history of California's government, it was pretty much a done deal that this would pass and become law.

I imagine that there has been a run on these California compliant rifles since the governor signed the bill into law back in July outlawing their sale come Jan 1, 2017.

Even if you are able to find a rifle and get one, I think that it is only a matter of another 8 to 10 years before California will declare rifles already owned by people to also be contraband, and will pass legislation requiring the disposal of the rifles.

if you have no luck finding a rifle now, and eventually do move to Oregon in the near future, hopefully it will still be possible to buy these rifles here. But that too, you unfortunately cannot count on.

Geno:

From everything that I have seen written about this issue, the feeding problem on the Ruger SR-762 only started after Ruger stopped including Magpul mags with the rifle, after the OEM agreement they had with Magpul expired, and they could not come to an agreement with them on a new contract to supply mags. Ruger then switched to using cheaper DPMS mags, and that is when the problems developed.

So I believe that these reported problems that you allude to are actually magazine problems. And that can be very easily remedied by simply purchasing a few 10 round Magpul mags yourself.

Here is one of many reports on various forums about this issue:

Lance,
I'm happy to hear the Ruger SR-762 is still a solid rifle-I'm a Ruger fan myself, and initially it was my first choice in buying a piston-driven .308 semi-auto rifle. I'm also a big Magpul fan and that's pretty much all I use, so hearing it was a mag-related issue bodes well for a Ruger rifle joining my armory. But for now my decision is pretty much made- I'll be buying the Sig 716 this week, and provided everything goes well I should take possession of the rifle before the end of the month.

As far a stock of this rifle goes, here in CA the FDE version sold out first- there are still a few stores with 1-4 in stock. And I have found a Socal store with a CA compliant FDE model in stock. I get paid today, and I'll be heading down to that store to make the purchase most likely tomorrow. I did see a NF member selling his Sig 716 here for a killer price ($1700), but sadly that rifle wouldn't work for me with my current residency. I'm paying top dollar for it, but given the conditions in Kommiefornia and the laws about to go into effect I'm okay with it.

I took the day off to renew my driver's license and stop by a gun store to get the DROS started on my 50th birthday present. Sometimes you just have to treat yourself....because no one else is gonna buy you a Sig Sauer rifle for your birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!!

Congrats Man that's more like birthday, christmas, easter, valentines and new years wrapped into one ;)

Hey, there's a little more expense above the AR15, but like any firearm, once you know how to handle it, it will be there when you need it. Covered with dust or not. :D
