Not so glamorous but for 2-3 times use a cardboard box with foam is low cost and will work. Uline does have stocked dedicated rifle boxes.

Personally I have a number of Pelican cases. They work great with your using them. PITA to store when you are not (exp. the large cases!). Another drawback of the pelican cases is they scream "expensive GUN inside". Last time I flew with one, I put a bunch of "Handel with care: Seismic measuring equipment inside" on the outside of the case. (I picked what sounded about right for the case, and a topic of something that probably is costly but would be a bubblegum to fence)
