Loaded long gun? No. Loaded handgun with CHL, yes.

I'm very sure this is because of road hunters and trying to discourage it.

If someone can post the ORS, I'm willing to be wrong

Can you carry a loaded long gun in ypur vehicle in Oregon? I have a CHL as well.
Yes,
There is no Oregon law prohibiting transporting loaded long guns in vehicles. Your CHL applies to handguns only. The closest law regulating vehicle carry applies to handguns ORS 166.250 which your CHL exempts.
Note: there are federal laws for traveling interstate that do prohibit loaded long arms. Im guessing that applies to non residents.

There are no Oregon hunting regulations prohibiting transporting loaded long arms in Oregon.

There is a law prohibiting transporting loaded long arms on ATVs/quads etc. for those without an Oregon CHL. ORS 821.240

Note in Wa. its illegal.

You won't find it because it doesn't exist. With a CHL, handgun license, you are exempt from illegal possession of loaded firearms. SBR, AOW, shotguns, etc. You're good to go.

Show me an ORS that says otherwise.

Note that Multnomah County has a law prohibiting loaded firearm magazine in public unless you have an Oregon CHL.
Inside of your private car is considered to be in public.

There's no State law saying a rifle cannot be loaded in the vehicle(other than a quad/ATV/Motorcycle?), or in public openly carried (it could be argued that ORS 166.250 specifically limits legal open carry of firearms to those in belt holsters :s0140: )

BUT cities and counties may restrict carry of loaded firearms to those with CHLs (see Portland).

It used to be only hunting - IIRC, ODFW calls it out in their info.
Im kinda surprised ODFW hasnt prohibited it, but my guess is hunting is one of those subjects that mostly off the liberals radar. Oregons hunting accident rate is really low so it shows its not "needed".
I make my hunting partners show an empty chamber before they can load it into the vehicle, but loaded magazines are ok.

This may have already been covered somewhere. Can you carry a loaded long gun in ypur vehicle in Oregon? I have a CHL as well. From what I've read looks like you can?
Thanks!
Yes you can. There are some threads on it. Fe:
Remember that if m114 starts everything changes. You have to be on your way to the range or coming back Fe to be legal with standard capacity mags plus further restrictions as I recall about being locked up but can't remember on the storage part. Fortunately I'm always driving to the range or coming back 100% of the time. :p

So, a WA concealed carry does not work in Oregon, but I can drive into Multnomah County with a loaded AR in my vehicle without breaking a law?
