I have what started life as an LMT 16" upper but has been converted into a Mk18 upper. Rather than continue on the SBR route, I have decided to sell this and buy something I can use now rather than later.
I had the 16" barrel reworked by a local gunsmith - he did an amazing job cutting, re-crowning, threading and opening up the gas port. The barrel now sits at 10.3" with a 0.070 gas port - factory Mk18 spec
This upper had about 500 rounds through it before the transformation and has had 0 through it since (to stay on the right side of the law).
The bolt carrier, bolt, and CH are all factory original LMT components.
I made the choice to shave the gas block to fit the rail rather than to use a low-pro gas block to retain the reliability of factory pins as opposed to set screws. After being shaved the gas block was high temp ceramic coated in matte black.
Besides the infamous tiny nick in the finish that all DD RIS rails come with for some unknown reason - this upper is in great condition and has no defects.
