Little Bear Gun Shop Discussion
Richard @ LBGS seems to go out of his way to help with all firearm related purchases. His prices are great and transfer fees are really low. Give him a try.
Never been to LBGS b4, but I hear nothing but good things about this place.
Bought a rifle from Richard a few years ago. It was a positive experience, he seemed very customer-oriented.
Richard has always taken care of me and gone out of his way to get me the best deals. My father and I and a friend of mine have bought a few firearms from him (about 7 between the 3 of us) and have never had a complaint.
If your military, make sure and let him know that too.
Always end up purchasing from him, because of his top notch service.
if you live in hillsboro area, I highly recommend little bear gun shop!
Richard is a nice guy and goes out of his way to get what you want. Over two months for an order of mine.
Richard is the MAN, bought plenty from him and will continue to do so.
Bought a rifle from Richard. Wouldn't mind doing business with him again.
I got a Ruger SR1911 from him for $600 about a month and half ago. Great guy. Need to do a ammo buy from him for some 45acp rounds.
Is it a walk-in retail store?
Nope. Home business. from what I was told.
Kitchen table FFL, Great guy and friendly. Everything but class 3 goes through Richard.
I'll never use this guy ever again.
I had a "small" order....$50+. His website said everthing was "in stock", so I placed my order. My credit card was charged but no response from his website and no merchandise. After a week went by I emailed asking for a status on my stuff. Was advised that things are taking longer then usual...yea I know but I at least wanted an ETA on when things would be showing up... After another week I pinged him again...Oh my stuff just showed up, so I went over to pick it up at his home.
When I got to his place only part of my order was there. When I asked where the rest of my order/stuff was, his response was "I don't recall another....this is all that came in". He didn't have an invoice or order to validate my order NOTHING. So I went home to make sure my order form showed the correct qty's....I was correct I was missing part of my order.
I sent a copy of my order asking for him to please look into this and advise. After another week went by and NO response I sent another email asking for my money back. The refund was the only prompt thing in this entire transaction.
I won't go back and I'd NEVER recommend him to any friends!!
I would never trust his website when things say they are in stock. It is only "my opinion" but it appears he doesn't have the necessary funds to run his business...being why he charges yoru credit card "in advance"...then you wait weeks with no word and no merchandise.
I want to give him a +1, but I ordered a rifle and mags from him a while back.. He came through with me on the order, but didn't get me my PRS stock. He told me it was ordered and would arrive shortly. I tried calling him back several times and left several emails to him and he refused to even respond back to me. I am going to give him a -1 for that. I was thinking he may have went out of business or died or something. But, I see he is still in business, which irritates me since he promised me he ordered an item and I didn't buy another PRS stock for a while, waiting for him to come through, which he didn't.. He got me a great deal on my AR-10 I ordered, but bailing on a customer, especially when he promised that he ordered you an item and you are waiting and he never responds back to you, is just so d*mn irritating!
As much as it pains me I would advise people not to deal with him.. Maybe, if I call him up and he gives me an explanation why he flaked on me on my previous order, I can remove this review.
Any updates on this one? Has anyone used him in the last year? Thinking of getting something from Bud's shipped to him.
He went through some medical issues a year or two ago and his son took over for a while. I think he is back in the saddle again tho.
Last I talked to him he was thinking about getting out of the game, seemed a little grumpy. It was a home visit for some ammo, he warmed up after a while but I got the impression he wasn't really that interested in taking orders and it was kind of a pain in his bum to deal with everyone.
This is what I suspected him to be after the two prior reviews, especially with him being the proverbial kitchen table ffl.
Anyway, guess I need to find somewhere else to be my ffl, mk tactical is listed but not "recommended" by Buds, nor did I check the transfer fee.
If you don't mind travelling a little (not sure where you're located) I would recommend Troy Ribble at TJ Gun Sales in McMinnville. He's been the only guy I deal with the last 2 years. He WAS a 'kitchen table' dealer but is transitioning into a storefront in Mac currently. His garage was converted into a store. The 1st time there I was expecting more of a Little Bear thing but when he opened the garage I was hooked. He outgrew it and the neighborhood and is now relocating to the Mac location. One of the best. I live 75 miles away and drive to see him, order everything through him, ammo, optics, guns, etc, it's worth the drive.
