Wasn't a form of this already happening?

But sure lets further weaponize economy/commerce against our citizenry.

Also based wells fargo saying "make a law about it". Thankfully this stupidity is contained to Virginia where this bill was introduced by some fanatic.

I think I heard something about a credit card company telling customers that they couldn't use the card to buy a gun, but I haven't heard of them tracking and reporting purchases.

I just remember not long ago there was a thread about something similar to this on NWFA. It wouldn't surprise me if some do practice it.

I had a problem with a customer service person that was apparently Anti . It was the weirdest phone call I've ever had. Was giving me the 3rd degree over a set of grips ? He handled himself just the way I would expect out of a anti. I must have called california .I've been a customer in good standing for more years than he sounded to be on earth. It ended up a mess .eventuality I received a call from a head honcho that sounded like he was from Texas. He Set things straight and covered the hole 9 yards at their expense. I would rather have the original guy fired and been there to see the look on his face .

This is an initiative pushed by SumOfUs.org - the extreme leftist organization funded predominantly by Bloomberg. Their email campaign came out early this spring, IIRC. Wants to track CC expenditures, automatically red flag 'excessive' purchases of ammo and arms. Claims the LV shooting was preventable due to his purchasing patterns.
As I read their email, seems like rabble screaming for thought police to watch them all. Made me want to wretch.

I suggest we all subscribe to orgs like Moms Demand Action and Sum of Us --- tip of iceberg sheite, so to speak, to get advanced notice on the chatter and agendas being pushed. They're just mouthpieces for the pawnbrokers.

I, of course, don't own any guns. And when I did, all were legal cash FTF purchases. But I sold them all long ago. When I had those guns I bought ammo online using a card but that was long since shot up. And all those accessories purchased online with a card were sold on the guns. And those 80% parts? Never completed and sold as parts. I guess I'm just cursed with a short attention span.
Between all the tracking of purchases, travel, and web browsing, just about any circumstantial case could be made against anyone. Until an actual crime is committed it's all he said - she said conjecture... legally speaking... for now.

“If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their money, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them (around the banks), will deprive the people of their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.” - Thomas Jefferson

“Without big banks, socialism would be impossible.” - Vladimir Lenin
