If any thing good has come out of this thread, I would say we have discovered that there are/can be folks of the liberal slant who truly understand the way of the world, and that they don't follow the hard line of the left. We have seen that there are Democrats who also do not drink the koolaid of the ultra left! This is a good thing, now we need to stand shoulder to shoulder and fix all the stupid we ALL face, and do so with out trying to convince each other to switch sides on their beliefs! If any thing, we have discovered that were all aboard this sinking ship together and if WE don't act together, we all sink together!

First thing WE all need to do is loose the hard core stance, mine is bigger, better, whatever then yours, and the I'm voting for who I think is best Krap, WE need to get onboard with the simple fact that we are going to have 2 players and 1 choice again, Trump and who ever gets turned out against him from the other side, neither are good solid choices, but that's what we will get! So pick the best of those two and vote like your way of life depends on it!

This thread proves that if WE are willing to set aside our party, our political leanings and address each other as fellow Americans with much the same hopes and dreams, thay we can truly come together when it matters, like it does now! I hope to see more fruitful discussions where we can speak to each other as Americans first and only, and put aside the rest, after all, we are all gun owners, and we all face the certain loss of a very important Right if we don't come together to make something happen!
The antis are sure gonna chit snakes when they discover we can pull ourselves together and stand up to them and fight! That would be a great day wouldn't it?

Peace, I'm outta here!

I'm a liberal, but I no longer identify with the Democrat party (which I guess makes me a Libertarian?), but I do believe it is valid to ask how somebody's beliefs translate into actions in support of the 2nd. I can't speak for all liberals, just as no conservative could claim to speak for that entire group, but for myself, I did join the LGC, I also spent most of last year, right up until IP43 went down, working with 'Good Guys With Guns', in person, at rally's, using vacation time, along side mostly conservatives, fighting for our gun rights. So there is two things that have become obvious to me; first, while all gun owners differ in how much 'gun control' is ok, we all support the 2nd, and I've personally observed from both camps the weakness of petty and baseless attacks on the other. Secondly, most 2A supporters are looking in the wrong directions and both sides have been guilty of playing into the plans of the anti-gunners, this will not only continue, but gain success the longer we, the average Americans, keeps blaming each other for something the 1% of the wealthiest Americans are actually behind, the end of our civil liberties. They've already just about crippled the 1st amendment and everyone keeps turning a blind eye to all these telecommunication mergers, even when 911 goes down nationally. Nothing to see here, keep raging against your neighbors please.

You got rid of it didn't you? :s0037:

I'm the offspring of depression era kids. They never got rid of anything. I'm not getting rid of, hardly, anything. And that Mauser will stay with me!

I did, but I did see a one similar to the one I let go for sale for 8 times what I paid for it as a kid. It's "collectable " now, you see. Serves me right.

Well, I was excited to participate in this thread when I saw the title but went cross-eyed trying to follow the threads of discussion. Oh well.

I'm all kinds of stuff.

1) I'm a human rights liberal. Please marry/have sex with who you want and be safe being any race or gender you are.
2) I'm a 2A beneficiary and supporter. I have been shooting and owning firearms for 35 years. I shoot a lot. I carry almost daily.
3) I'm a law enforcement professional and a death investigator, and went to grad school for anthropology. If I get one more lecture on the social ramifications of gun violence, the dynamics of the Clackamas Town Center shooting, or the physiology or psychology involved in gun deaths nation-wide, we're going to have a problem.
4) I'm a union shop steward (SOCIALIST!) in a Peace Officer's Association (CONSERVATIVE!) full of other cops (ACAB!) in a career where firearms are carried (GUN NUT!) in the course of preserving and upholding social priorities (LIBTARD!).

I'm a fourth-generation Oregonian. That means I recycle AND drive an F350. I get to like guns and be liberal in some aspects. Most of the important stuff doesn't fall along party lines--that's WHY they are triggering topics and useful for vote-baiting.

As a "liberal gun-owner," I think it sucks that I have to be a one-issue voter. I have NEVER in my adult life felt so politically disenfranchised as I do right now. The climate is crappy for a lot of things. It's nice to be able to talk to other people that don't automatically push the "I Believe" button.

Well hell, ya fit right in! OryGunions are a special kind of breed, we don't follow a set standard, preferring to be our own kind of people different from the rest of the country!
Growing up OryGunion, there wasn't a lot of political devotion or devision, if you worked the trades, you were "represented" or you worked the industries, and got along just fine! We didn't have all this nonsense we have now, and the local news was exactly that, LOCAL! We didn't hear about much outside our towns, cities and state unless it was some big event, Like WW-II, and we did just fine not knowing what was going on out in the big wide world!
The media did it's job of reporting the truth (mostly) and there was honor in public service as a politician (mostly) and we all got along just fine!
I was raised up as a Democrat, my mother was a teacher, so she was "Represented" and those ideals kinda sorta fit my life style! Then I joined the Air Force and saw the world from a very unique perspective. I did 20 years in a very focused field, and when I retired, the world was a completly different place! I no longer found the Democrat platform fit me, and discovered that none of them did ether! I don't know what I am politically! I guess I'm a self preserving, prepping, leave me the phuk alone kind of guy. I love my wife, my son's, my home, my pickup truck, my state, and my guns! I come from good stock, legal immigrants who helped found and shape the destiny of two states, I am a Texian, and pioneer OryGunion! My family and I have proudly served this country in the military, every generation, and it is considered a great honor, and expected for the young ones in our family to enlist and do at least 4 years! We never hurt any one, we mind our own business, stay out of other people's business and we work hard and contribute to society as best we are able!
I am a Proud American, I gave my blood, sweat and tears, and a large chunk of my life to service, and I have many scars to show for it, but I am An American, a Patriot. I swore an never ending oath and I intend to uphold it till they put me in the ground with my most beloved Rifle next to me!

I think I'm going to like you being around here!

Just let me say too....The Portland police I've had the pleasure to associate with since I moved to PDX June 7th 1983 have been outstanding. Moving naively to a part of NE PDX that ended up being crack alley meant I needed the police on more than a hand full of occasions! Those men doing, often times, a miserable job for shatty money have my complete respect. :s0152:

As I recall, my Oregon ballot had at least four candidates on it. And while you may consider it a wasted vote to vote anything but (R) or (D), I believe that it is that thought process that has us mired in the broken two-party system we currently have.
Of course, that line of thinking gave us Bill Clinton back in 1992.

Just an Observation if Clinton were President No new Federal Gun Laws would have been passed......Republicans wouldn't have budged even when asked.

Here's another observation. Who do you think Clinton would have nominated for Supreme Court and federal court judges?

ETA Another observation: CLT65 beat me to that point--Dang!

And Another observation--If the Republican run Senate didn't allow any Clinton nominees on to the Supreme court then the liberals would have a 4-3 majority after Kennedy retired.

I hear you.
If anybody just wants to talk about firearms I'm your man.
Northwest Firearms: it's right there in the name.

Yep, I'm going to pursposefully detail this thread by talking about guns.
I've been shooting a bunch of .22 rimfire lately. I think I need a .22 rifle I can put a can on. I was looking at a Ruger American .22 predator in the classifieds, but (understandably), he didn't want the hassle of shipping. I almost bought one on gunbroker. Late night (albeit sober) gunbroker browsing is dangerous, regardless of political affiliation...

I've had in mind getting a Ruger 10/22 with the threaded barrel/flash suppressor for a similar for fun project gun. My current .22 rifles aren't threaded, but something Israeli style would be cool. I purposefully dont look at Gunbroker anymore: can't afford it!

@MountainBear, get a nice little marlin Mod 60 and thread it your self!:D best .22 semi for the cash and no issues running a can! If ya wants a Bolty, a Savage MK-2 is the bench mark of outta the box accuracy, and some even come threaded right from Bi-Mart!:)

Want the American so I can swap the stock length on it. My son will be ready to shoot a benched gun in the next year or two. But I want to shoot it until then, so the adaptable stock is a a good selling point.
But I suppose I could not be lazy and just thread one myself...;)

Sorry, pal, It isn't all about you.
I voted for Perot, so I bear some responsibility for 8 years of Clinton.
I was self-righteous about not voting for the ridiculous 2-party system and not supporting either candidate yada yada.
And I saw the result of that.
So.. I'm looking to get a suppressor in .22 LR and can't decide between the Ruger SR-22 or the Ruger Tac-Lite. The SR is more compact but I fairly sure the Tac-Lite will be more accurate.
Opinions?

One of my guns in the above picture dates back to around 1780 or so...very similar to what was carried at Lexington and Concord...
Here is a closer view:
DSC06822.jpg
All of my guns reflect my likes ...wood working , engraving , carving , fine fit and finish....
Other folks find them old , boring and outdated...

One thing is true...whether it was a rifle made 5 minutes ago , made of the latest in plastic and metal technology or a flintlock made with maple and steel almost at the birth of our nation...
Both are part of the 2nd Amendment and our heritage...both are in danger of being lost.

Bickering among ourselves serves no purpose , but does help those that want to demolish the 2nd Amendment.
Just as I would not ask that everyone here like and enjoy my favorites in the gun world ...I would not ask that you agree with everything you read and see here on our site...

But I do ask that you state your thoughts respectfully.
Andy

Since we're chasing squirrels now, a rare photo of one of @AndyinEverson 's suppressors. View attachment 532769

I was thinking that my suppressors are when I load patch and ball...as opposed to Powder , patch and ball.
If you load a muzzleloader the first way , the gun is very quiet...the shooter not so much , lots of cussing...:D
