Apart from the last, most similar ventures end the same way. Where black people and white people are concerned, it's revenge for their enslavement. When you have nation where the national religion is based on the King of the Dead - Baron Sam'di - and his mistress - Maitresse Erzuli - mixed with a sprinkling of good ol' time pre-Renaissance Roman Catholicism, and where your neighbour may well have been dead for a few years, but refuses to lie down, you just know that it's all going to go to rat-plop.

Ever seen one of those incredible sink-holes in the waters behind a great dam? Y'know, where the water just glides at a bazillion gallons a minute into the abyss?

You can imagine Haiti as the sink-hole, and your dollars disappearing down it.

What's creepy is when you look at satellite photos of Hispaniola, you can tell exactly where the DR/Haiti border is--because on the Haiti side they've stripped all the trees and never replanted. And everybody who tries to go down there and teach those people anything... well, they tend to get invited to dinner and not as a guest if ya get my drift.

Better yet, the French broke it, let THEM fix it.

Looking at Haiti and its method of dealing with any foreign aid, I'm reminded of a dockside scene in Mogadishu a few years syne, where a gleaming row of thirty brand-new white-painted Mercedes-Benz cargo trucks, each one carrying ten tons of food supplies in the form of 50kg sacks of flour and similar stuff, had been offloaded that very day. Each and every one of them proudly bore the UNESCO logo, as did every sack of foodstuffs.

Within three days, all the trucks had either been driven off and burned out, or repainted into the colours of the local warlord. All the food was blatantly on sale in the local markets - not a one of the 6000+ bags of basic foodstuff had been issued out to the folks who most needed it.

As a result of this, I deleted UNESCO, OXFAM, WHO, IRC, MSF, Save the Children Fund and all charities outside the UK off my standing payment charities list.

Now I continue to give my small financial support to the RNLI, the county HEMS and Blind Veterans UK. And, occasionally, to the Cape Meares Lighthouse Renovation fund.

they did crooked hillary made rapist bill clinton the special envoy to Haiti to disburse funds after the hurricane and surprise surprise there is billions of dollars missing and NO ONE is doing the accounting to find the cash and haiti got dicked

You've seen it first hand. I volunteer for a charity to provide art materials to poor children. We've given materials to programs in Haiti, Costa Rica, Kenya, Ethiopia, Syria, and Puerto Rico. Small amounts, never more than $5K worth at a time, and we make sure they are personally delivered, or they will never get there.
My favorite was the program in Puerto Rico which we provided materials, the director says, "just direct deposit the money in my account."
