I get that we all hate rioting and looting. But, you can't tell me that there isn't a single cop who thinks that yea, maybe there are too many bad apples with a badge and yea, maybe some of their tactics should change and yea, even now they know that they're roughing up, shooting, and gassing people who were just standing around.

Where are those cops?

I'd guess that cops are not like other folks. You know: The ones who are looking to make a political point at the expense of their cities.

But if you don't think so.......whatever.

Is "the People" just those you agree with, or all Americans? Couldn't you argue then if the majority thinks there is a problem, it's their right to do what's needed to institute a new government? Even if that means you don't agree?


I say that without taking a side, just getting philosophical

When I first went pro as a photographer, I contracted with a company. Shot a bunch of gigs, had a great relationship with the company president. Seemed like a great job.

Then a videographer botched a job. Deliverables were pre-sold. I was told to lie to customers when they called to complain, tell them I'd send another copy. Keep using this excuse until the customer tired but above all, no refunds.

To me, this was theft.

I quit on the spot, knowing full well I was breaching my contract and may have to deal with those repercussions.

If I were a cop, and you asked me to rubber bullet someone just standing around, well, not following that order would be the least I would do.

So, yea, I guess cops aren't like some other people.

A short review of the Bonus March in Washington D.C. would show just to what degree they most certainly WOULD follow orders.

Not against rioters or looters, but against a (relatively) peaceful encampment of Veterans accompanied by their women and children, asking only for what was due them in a time of extreme hardship. American soldiers against American soldiers.

Go back and re read the rest of the story about the bonus army . There was a large contingent of socialist and communist agitators mixed in with the bonus army and it wasn't an entirely Peaceful protest if you read the news of the day.

Concerns were that allowing the bonus army to continue with their protest unabated it would have embolden the communist elements embedded with protestors .

I'm not saying what happened to the veterans is right but the narrative often repeated isn't the whole story

It's more about ideals and having a government accountable to the people, serving the people, not the other way around. Equitable for all people, to share in the opportunities to be all they can be and to reap the bounties of honest work. We've lost our ways from the founding fathers ideals... Those are just my feeble thoughts...
 
This is not the way Americans should be treated. This guy is not violent, he's not looting or rioting... This stuff hurts to watch. It's not all cops, but damn, someone's grandpa has to bleed out becuase you're so mad at rioters?

Hope he's OK.

 
I mean, I don't really have time to post all the videos of the peaceful protesting. There has been rioting and looting, no doubt. It should be stopped, no doubt. Those responsible should be prosecuted, no doubt. We're on the same page with all of that?

It's not hard to see all this tension is boiling over, causing a bigger divide in our people. You and I are likely aligned on more of our beliefs and morals than not! But we've let the media turn everything into an all or nothing, 100% with me or 100% against me.

But are you really in the belief that nothing is "being done other than destruction"? Maybe later tonight I can post some of the good discussions I've seen with Police leadership and protesters, or the videos of them walking side by side with protesters and there not be a shred of destruction in sight?

I should be able to say proudly that I'm an American. I don't support looting or destruction of property. Those who are participating in that should be arrested and prosecuted. Period.

But at the same time, I'm PISSED OFF that I'm seeing videos of police attacking the peaceful protesters, old men walking, not threatening anyone. Reporters who are complying with police, being arrested. I'm PISSED OFF that we have un-named armed police in our capital. I'm PISSED OFF that when I look around, I see people who I thought were against government overreach, calling for it.

Just stop for a second and imagine, really picture it, Obama has activated police force in the capital who refuse to identify their affiliation, you hear him speaking to our governors, threatening to call in the ARMY if they don't get control of the "anti-stay at home" protesters carrying guns around, bubblegumk, we'd be pissed! And rightfully so!!! I don't trust ANY president to take these actions.


At the end of the day, we all need to step back and realize, wrong or right, at the core, those of us participating in the discussion all most likely want the same thing, America to live up to her potential and continue to be the world leader in all things, from industry to morals. Even if we disagree on how we get there.

Yeah, still not sure what is being accomplished. This to me is similar to the woman's marches taking place over the past year or two, what were they marching against? What did it accomplish? I think we can all agree that there is not a law in this country that allows for the discrimination against people based on skin tone or gender (either of them). If some individual cops are guilty of unnecessary or inappropriate use of force so be it, but making it a national spectacle is more about media fanning flames and the democratic party trying to grow this into more votes in the coming election.

Thousands of people are killed in the US every year, few make more than local headlines, the ones that make national headlines are consistently propped up to make a spectacle. Who does this help? It's pathetic for people to act like they care every once in a while when it is propped up by the media, otherwise they live their little lives ignoring the thousands of people killed every year and don't think a second about it.

When the country, and the BLM community start caring about the lives that are killed on a regular basis and not just when the media boosts their ratings with racial division 24/7 coverage when a black person is killed by a white person, the it might be different.

Also - there was a white woman in the Northeast killed by a dark skinned cop not that long ago. She had called the police reporting she thought she heard a woman being attacked in her alley. The police show up, the woman who called the police and made the report was outside, cop shot and killed her - there was never a clear reason why. That was very shady, I don't recall the country as a whole really giving a dam, their weren't widespread riots, looting, arson.

What this tells me is that these types of situations are so pumped up and inflated for profit, either monetarily or political, that no, it's not genuine, their might be people who follow along with the act and play right into the plan as sheep often do, but what the media covers, what gets sensationalized and what is regularly glossed over is boringly/disgustingly obvious.

He walked toward cops in riot gear and even went so far as to (seemingly put his hand on one of them). Maybe he thought his "privilege" would protect him.

I'm no police expert, but I'm not going to assume I am going to be treated friendly if I walk opposing to police in riot gear and start putting my hands on them.

This is really only even an issue because it was a old man, had it been a younger person that little shove would not have made him stumble and it wouldn't even have made the news.

Good gracious, cops can't win. They do their job they get blamed, they don't do their job they get blamed. Why not make 2020 really the year to remember and disband police entirely across the nation. People will police themselves, many won't survive, and you know, society will effectively crumble and split like tribalism, but the their won't be any more people killed by police.....

That's exactly what BLM is driving to now, they want police agencies defunded and in some cases disbanded...

Imagine America without police :eek:

It'll make what we've seen over the past week look like the good ole civilized days...
