Link here Meeting scheduled to start at 8:30. There will be no outside testimony allowed.

This is the hearing that was announced on the OFF ALERT yesterday. Here's the ALERT

Here's the committee overview: https://olis.oregonlegislature.gov/liz/2021I1/Committees/SJD110/Overview

Notice that they have been doing work on 114 but have been scheduling the meetings as Measure 110. I don't know who came up with that little bit of deception. Oh wait, it's Floyd Prozanski, the chair of the Senate Committee on Judiciary. Imagine that! If anyone has any comments they would like to direct toward him, he's always available to hear from you. Email at [email protected] . You can call him in Eugene at 541-342-2447 or call his Salem office at 503-986-1704.

Might as well get this part out of the way. By now, everyone is aware that, when it comes to legislation being drafted, the only tool we have is to let the authors know how we feel. To that end, we need to speak to ALL of them separately. Call and write but be respectful. Don't worry about lengthy prose or multi page legal arguments, the staffers may read them but the congresspersons most likely will not. If you send them a message, it becomes part of the record so contact ALL OF THEM. Here's what I gleaned from their web sites but some may have changed this election:

Several takeaways from the OSP. First is that the (ETA: - administrative) training requirements in 114 will be developed by sheriff departments and be an additional module in the CHL training. Demonstration portion has yet to be developed. Second is that OSP will have temporary rules released today and questions will be answered via the askosp.com website. They admit that they don't have anything set up electronically yet but people can fill out a paper request, have their fingerprints taken, and the FBI background check started tomorrow. Paper will then be mailed or sent via messenger to the OSP.

I just did the Oregon State Sheriff's Association course today, and it is indeed updated with the Oregon 114 requirements.
