Can I Legally ship my gun to someone who has an FFL that lives out of state?
Or how can I find out what the law is?

    Thanks for all your help.

Yes. Some FFLs won't accept shipment from a non-FFL, so check first. But as long as you are sending To an FFL, there is not a problem.
Handguns go overnight through USPS, Longguns have more options.

I don't think you want to be sending your handgun overnight through USPS (United States Postal Service). That is a big no-no!. I think you might want to use FedEx or UPS.

They need to provide you with a copy of their FFL.
You can call and verify the FFL is valid and current.
Ship only to the address on their FFL.

Yes it is. When you get a copy of it you can also check https://www.atfonline.gov/fflezcheck/ to make sure it is real and valid.

My post office said it wasn't a problem to ship a gun with tem. They told me that as long as a gun packaged and you do not say what is in it. your fine. He joked about not comming in asking for a flatrate box and pulling out my carry piece to ship.

The above at site: 432 Mailability

Key term "HANDGUN" (as opposed to rifle, shotgun). Handguns can't be mailed. Rifles, shotguns can.

Many PO workers have no clue as to the actual regs. I was pontificated at by one long term PO employee that you can't even ship gun parts.. which is totally wrong info

The Waco, TX mass murder was initiated by a moron UPS employee who had a box of practice hand grenades (totally inert, hollow and have a big hole in the base, obviously harmless) crack open and he saw the "GRENADES". He freaked out and told the cops they were live grenades

The Davidians were making the gag grenade toys out of them, like this, for sale at gunshows..

Big Sister is now attempting to turn UPS employees into federal snitches..

SO How do you mail a handgun?
Fedex, UPS and all of them are "Mail" providers

Or are you saying you cannot mail through USPS

You don't mail it. You ship it UPS or FedEx

In addition to the above, be prepared for incompetent FedEx clerks. I had way too much of a hassle with the FedEx clerk at Sea-Tac. He advised me that FedEx could no longer ship handguns unless I applied for a Dangerous Goods permit. As you can guess, that was bogus. Handguns are not classified as Dangerous Goods (Ammo is, however.). It took a couple of phone calls & two trips to FedEx to finally get it shipped to CA.

Make sure you take a copy of the receiving dealer's FFL (and the verification). Most shippers will want to see it to confirm that there is an FFL on at least one end. In Seattle, they file it with their paperwork.
