I thought I would get into reloading .303 but I've come to realize I probably never will. So, I'm now selling my awesome 1943 Enfield No4 Mk 1/2. This example served time in WW2 as a No4 Mk1, was upgraded at Fazerkerly in the 50s (including new barrel and upgraded Mk2 trigger, was originally a Mk1), then was sold to Ethiopia where it was lightly used then stored until it made its way back to the USA.
The rifle is in good shape, especially the metal which has the majority of its finish except on certain high wear areas. Some areas have minor pitting but little to no rust was found during deep cleaning and lubrication. The walnut stock is good (typical dents, dings, chips, stains, etc) and structurally sound with soldier engraved inscriptions and some white faded paint. All matching stamps. There is a shallow chip (approx. half dollar sized) by the receiver on the buttstock, no other cracks were found. This chip could very easily be fixed permanently. The bore is nice with sharp bright lands and frosted grooves.
Rifle is matching aside from the bolt, which is likely the bolt installed when it was refurbished. Lockup and action are excellent and smooth. Features a terrific milled flip-up rear aperture sight and 200 yard battle peep rear sight when flipped down. This rifle is a unique piece of history and has many stories to tell… and it's a great shooter to boot.
