Lead causes cancer. It's just common sense to ban it. why would we put a known carcinogen into our environment intentionally?

UN-F-Believable....................The environment is where we get lead from.
:s0098:Enviro nutcases. Oh and the cascade range is where where all the mercury that is in our rivers come from (fact of life), so be sure you ban the entire cascade mountain range also.................. and Rain, that is what washes it down, so ban that too.........think you may have drank too much already.

Mountain streams are contaminated from centuries of logging and surface mining with improper disposal of the tailings. The mountain streams will only be once again safe to drink from if they can be restored to the pristine state they were in before they were befouled by European settlers and their offspring. That takes time, it is etimated the forest need 100,000 years to recover from the damage inflicted by man over the last 150.

By the way the only sustainable water source is rainwater, and that is only when pollution levels do not contaminate it.

What're the stated reasons for the ban? Have the condors extended their range?

If other raptor birds are endangered I'll want to see an HONEST evaluation of the damage caused by lead vs the damage caused by windfarms.

If it's to keep me from choosing rather or not to POSSIBLY ingest minute particles of lead then they can GFT.

Google cancer causing foods. Time to ban popcorn, canned foods, soda, processed meat. Anything highly salted, pickled or smoked. Refined sugar and artificial sweeteners.

Someone sure got to you. I did a major research paper in college about Mercury contamination called "Silver Death" It was about the minamata disease in Japan and the extensive mercury contamination in the Western region of the US. Oregon in particular as it was causing problems here, and it still is. The major source is not mining tailings it is the mercury in the cinnabar deposits in the cascade range and it is the source for mercury. The tailings main contamination was cyanide, not mercury. Mercury was minute compared to what washes down from the cascade range. That is accumulative and there is NO ONE to blame but Ma Nature herself for that one. !!!
You can see it beaded up in the red cinnabar up there. It will be with us forever.
Lead in water, as in sinkers does not oxidize and is not a hazard at all. Lead is alsopresent all over the region in a natural state in the bluish grey clay in most of the state.
Stop being so left wing eco brainwashed and look at reality. This is nothing but an anti gun and environmental nutcase control move and not one damned valid reason otherwise.

I read earlier on OFF and other publications that Our dear Leader Kitzhopper is planning to use ODFW to introduce California Condors into Oregon in order to have the strength of the EPA behind an Oregon lead ban.

In my re-read of the Federalist Papers, it continues to seem to me that the framers actually anticipated the American people to stand up from time to time, to put politicians, who are by their very nature, corrupt and tyrannical, back in their place. With the Demo-Nazis in control of Oregon, We have choppy seas ahead.....very soon...."slowly but surely" does not get it.

I don't think Kitzy has authority to do such a thing - they could *try* to legislate it, but I don't think even that would stand up to a constitutional test as an all out lead ammo ban - there simply is not a viable alternative at this point.

More serious worries are 594 on steroids, mag cap limits, semi-auto bans, ban on open carry statewide, restrictions added to the CHL law, etc.

The obamanation doesn't have the authority either, yet here we are. Kitz is a dictator wannabe in training,,,

A non native into Oregon. That is a crime isn't it ...........................:rolleyes:o_O
Another spotted owl fricassee stew bird to use as a BS tool by the far left again.
Eco nuts need to become endangered species.
We use to have mastodons here too but no one is going to reintro them to the state LOL.
Kitzhauber is a fruitcake partial Marxist. Totally socialist pos.

Also you will breath more harmful things in a day driving through Wilsonville from all the years of spraying and insecticides and copper for bight and herbicides than you will get from lead anywhere else in the state if you eat nothing but dirt. You live in filbert orchard hell hell there ROFLOL Wait till the flail mowing and harvest starts. The Oregon black lung region :D
Lived in the middle of it for 30 years.

Oh my.....all through the 70's between turns I filled my hardhat with water from the streams where I was logging and drank. Whatever was in it other than bark and stems missed me, I guess. I always rinsed my hardhat first. Didn't want to get any of that nasty Republican sweat in there.

French Fries are carcinogenic, too.

Everything that crosses into that state has too have this on it... LOL
Hell they could not get anymore reproductive harm there could they. :s0140:

So the watersheds known as Bull Run, Barney, Hagg Lake and Wolf Creek among others that are fed by multiple drainages and providing water to the city of Portland and all its suburbs are not safe to drink ? Natures water filtering systems are as good as they get. Much better than the clorine and flouride injections that are put into the crap that comes out of the tap that people actually drink.

And the amounts of water that currently are and proposed to draw even more from the Willamette River at Wilsonville to meet the water needs of a huge populace, are pure, even after treatment, draining the storm run off from the entire Willamette Valley including ALL agricultural uses ??

Mining impacts very small percentages of actual drainages, and has fairly small impacts on potable water. Since wack a@@ enviros do everything they can to prevent construction of new impoundments that would provide huge amounts of potable water, these challenges of providing these sources will be a problem in the years to come.

That takes time, it is etimated the forest need 100,000 years to recover from the damage inflicted by man over the last 150.

Please provide a link to the science that determined that number. This earth has a remarkable ability to regenerate itself. You can look at old mining areas in Alaska and see how fast they regenerate. There is no way other than supposition to determine how many years it would take. The world was a lot different place 100,000 years ago, and will look a lot different from now in 100,000 years.

By the way the only sustainable water source is rainwater, and that is only when pollution levels do not contaminate it.

So what do you do about the acid rain issues that are developing in countries that do not have the environmental laws the US does ? You can have pure rain water and once you impound it or move it in some form, you are going to be subject to any number of non point source pollution, and in some case point source if not properly controlled. Any time humans are involved in the process, there will be some form of contamination.

I put my old folding metal cup in many a mountain stream and small springs in the woods. I will take my chances on that versus that chlorine smell that comes out of the faucet.

You must have written that from the grave, The environmentalists claim you should already be dead!

In the 70's I heard that many of the underground water pipes in old eastern cities were lead. I'm sure Boston was mentioned. I've never heard any more about it.
