Isn't the very first thing we all learn is to make sure a weapon isn't loaded as soon as we handle it? Call me crazy, it seems like reflex to me. Never seen a gun handled at a gun store that wasn't checked, nor have I handed a gun to someone who didn't. And how many times did this weapon change hands before making it to the court room? There's quite a bit of ball dropping going on here
