It may be manual but you can add a "motor" to it. About the only thing that wears is the cutter head and that is easily replaced. Do yourself a favor and get the stand and clamp if you are doing lots of cases. I have a variety of trimmers and this one will always be around since it is extremely accurate if you take the time to set it up. After 30 years it is still going strong and I have replaced the head just once!
