Hey Val - I have a Krag Mdl 1899 made in 1902 - I have been in contact with one of the founding members of The Krag Collectors Assoc who has info that shows rifles with Serial #'s between 341602 & 362433 were carbines - mine is 360099....... It has the 1902 rear sight but no "C" stamp or thumbscrew - the copper tip of the front site has been polished - no cartouches on the stock & missing the upper hand guard........ I too live in Olympia - I just signed up tonite to list it in the classifieds - Let me know if youd like to take a closer look...... steve
