Generally there are two popular methods. For a right handed
shooter over the shoulder if they are going to engage targets
toward the right side when the run ends (turn toward the gun),
or trailing the gun inverted if they are going to turn the other way
(again, toward the gun).

Distance of an uprange run is usually more than 8 ft but less than 50 ft. Holster and draw are slower than retaining the gun in hand.
