That kid deserves a medal. Outstanding! May God bless him.
Or her, looked at multiple reports on this incident, non revealed gender. I just hope the juvenile will receive adequate support and not be stressed by this unfortunate event. It's good that the identity of this victim is being protected.

Yes…him or her. This is why kids need firearm use and safety training. I want to get my granddaughter started. She's 11. I want to take her to hunter safety this year.

Start one on one. Kids need all the instruction they can get. by 12 she should be going to 22lr steel matches a few times a year or more. Izaak Walton does 2 "22LR Family fun and education shoots" every year. One in May and one in September. Small doses for some kids. Other kids will want to shoot all day till all the ammo is gone. Just meet them where they're at and keep it fun.

She's already been introduced to rifles by her uncle. I would like to get her a 22 single shot to start. It will have to stay in my safe though. She doesn't have a place to store it where she lives.

We just started ours out with one round in the mag. Work up to more. But I encourage everyone to buy more guns. Just saying either way a semi auto or bolt can always be a single shot etc etc...

So, in Oregon the parent of the minor that shot 2 home invaders in self defense would be sent to jail because the pistol the minor used wasn't secured and was accessible by a minor?

Started my daughter out on a pink one when she was around 8 or 9? Sadly, she's not into guns like I am. I was able to "drag" her out to a few speed steel matches while she was still in high school. Have yet to shoot a match with since she became an adult (19 and attending college).

Never had an issue with her safety. I even installed a CMC 3.5lb flat faced trigger in her M&P 15-22 and not once did she send a round that wasn't intended. Great trigger discipline.

Grandsons love to shoot. Granddaughters never progressed past BB rifles. All is well: they know the 4 rules of safety and that Papa always carries.

I was interested in this article until people started debating genders who gives a bubblegum the dudes are dead, next
Some times reading comprehension is a thing. FWIW the latest reporting implies that the juvenile is a male of near military age. :s0062:
