Talking to the media, they seemed at odd that everything that Richardson said back during the debates about this was gonna be an issue and nobody listened to him. I told Jeff Gianola that and he was telling me he doesn't remember Richardson ever bringing that up. Such short term memory loss our media hounds have.

They remember - they also lie. Remember how Portland channels blatantly lied about the realities of I594? Remember how claims about Kitzhaber were poo-pooed if they got airtime at all?

I don't think we, who are against them, are calling, writing our local media enough.
I mean the Ethics questions on KB should be brought up again and reviewed now that she's Gov.
Also what about how Kitz was pushed to resign just after he was promoted as the best choice as Gov???
Maybe writing our Reps isn't enough, they have no shame. Calling out, lol, journalists for being biased might get us a little further.

I am almost beginning to believe this was all some massive scam to actually get here there. Like someone said she would not have gotten elected had she ran. One more left wing SCAM

Brown demonstrated her instincts again this week, when Kitzhaber wavered over whether or not to resign. Brown released a devastating statement after a meeting with Kitzhaber, in which he said he wouldn't quit, calling the situation "bizarre and unprecedented."

The statement helped convince some Democrats it was time for Kitzhaber to go. On Thursday, state Senate President Peter Courtney (D) and House Speaker Tina Kotek (D) both told Kitzhaber to quit, as did state Treasurer Ted Wheeler (D). Brown opened the door and pushed Kitzhaber through.

Brown will have almost two years to govern before facing voters for the right to fill out the rest of Kitzhaber's term, but Republicans are already critical of her record and stumbles during her first term as secretary of state. She angered Republicans when she scheduled an election for state Labor Commissioner in November 2012, rather than in May.

Republicans said the decision was an overtly political act aimed at saving the Democratic nominee, Brad Avakian, who won. She fired several employees, including her chief of staff and the head of the state's elections division, amid the criticism. Most major papers in the state endorsed her Republican opponent in 2012, though she won reelection in a favorable Democratic year.

1. The resignation of Kitzhaber is not a good thing for Democrats, its a bad thing. K ran 4 state-wide campaigns and was prior to that elected repeatedly to the leg. from Roseburg, if not mistaken. Kate Brown is completely Portland based. Her state wide campaigns have been on others' coattails. Kitzhaber's scandal was pretty tawdry, and insulting to working class supporters.
The only thing saving Ds is the dogmatic, delusional condition of Republicans.

2, The new bigger D majority in the legislature is a two-edged sword. Over reach and lose the swing districts.

What's the status of anti-gun measures in the legislature? I have not heard of much movement, but i could be wrong. The way to stop legislation is to lobby the swing districts.

I could be wrong but i think the greater danger is the initiative. The good news is that there would be time to develop a more inclusive message, with broader appeal. The bad news is, reading though this thread, there's not much hope of that coming from the 2A side

Unbelievably, it was a campaign ad that ran on local Portland stations (likely elsewhere as well) and Bush was definitely prominent. Seems at one point she said something like "I mean Buuuusssh..." to sum up everything wrong in the world. It would have been 2002, 2004, 2006, or 2008. It was like she was in some sort of rapture whine.

Good hunting!

I tried this SE https://startpage.com/eng/? but it didn't get back that far either.
Google sure has it cut off/

What really baffles me is that I really think this thing was survivable for Kitzy.....seriously..

There are other state governors that have survived in far worst situations such as Fat Christie and the other governor lying while he was boning an Argentinian mistress.
Is this because Oregon is made of pansies?
It is not survivable? Or do we make it hard to live here and we do not want screw ups?

It isn't/wasn't survivable because it was never intended to be, after the primaries.
The Kitz election was a ploy. His outrage is fake. The Oregonian's objections are fake.
The only reason they suddenly don't like Kitz is because they like Kate Brown better.
I have spent decades (sometimes sporadically) reading the Oregonian, and the Willamette Week, and their political coverage, and have NEVER seen either publication attack a dem office holder like both have attacked Kitz. The only time they have aver attacked a dem candidate is when a different (better, in their estimation) candidate was their favorite. As long as that candidate was "electable."
The WW has a record of supporting fringe element candidates on the "green" side of the leftist spectrum, but always left candidates. And usually, the farther left the better.

The fact that these attacks on Kitz came from those two sources it what is so odd.
Until one looks at how much better KB fits "the mold" of today's ideal Portland left-wing politician.
They (The Oregonian) have supported Kitz his ENTIRE political career, for virtually every office he has EVER run for. All 30 years worth.

Compared to KB, Kitz was a middle-of-the-road democrat with a fairly pragmatic approach to the variety of issues in this state. He often gave lip service to far leftists and their issues, but didn't push them, and left them up to the legislature. The forest plan was a good example of that.

There is NO WAY to square what has happened with the political history of the two publications that attacked Kitz. None at all.
This "scandal" was easily survivable for Kitz, considering that The Oregonian and the WW, as well as the Eugene Weekly, would have glossed over the issues, or not printed/published the worst of them in their defense of him.
Just like most of the mainstream press and their defense of a certain admin in their non-coverage of everything from Fast & Furious to Benghazi.

Oregon citizens and voters have been had.
Manipulated by the democrat party and their minions in the press yet again.

They DID gloss over the issues, right up until Kitz won the election, then the gloves came off. I've said this in other threads, but the goal of the election was to keep Richardson out. Once that was assured, real "progress" could be made. Funny thing is, before last week, I could hardly find anybody that even knew who was next in line after Kitz. Now, expect the media to focus on the all-important issue of her sexual orientation, and ignore anything truly meaningful that KB does or does not do.

Until I read through this thread, I thought maybe I was the only one that thought this was all a big plan to use Kitzhaber's demise as a ploy to insert the new Governor without the messy need to run her through an election cycle first. I called foul on the Oregonian the moment they called on him to resign - everything we're talking about was there BEFORE the election, and they endorsed him anyway. Journalists they are not. Campaign managers, maybe. I'm thoroughly disappointed with the voters in this state for electing a man that they knew had serious problems going into the election and I'm disappointed we will now have a Governor that wasn't elected to do the very job she will serve.

Oh yeah, nothing gets right wing press outlets and social conservatives frothing at the mouth faster than an alternative sexual orientation. I have already noticed the headlines on a few websites mentioning her sexuality first, before any other issues.

Between the fact that our (about to be) new governor is female and professes to be bi, anyone who opposes her policies/actions will be labeled as sexist-lgbt haterz just like those that oppose obama are automatically "racists."

You know, because Ghu forbid anyone call him out for a stupid decision, or disagree with his policies.
It's in their best interest to reduce things to the lowest common denominator for their believers.

And a governor they knew had neither the creds nor the broad political appeal to be elected to the office.
And now that she will be running as the incumbent, she will be that much harder to unseat.
In either the primary or the general election.

Yep. Pretty convenient that they waited until just after he was sworn in to 'suddenly' change their position on him. It stinks, it stinks bad.

Does the FOIA apply to the personal emails of the new gov as well? It would be interesting to see what was discussed at the capitol pre/post election. It would be great to see the same tactics used on Kitz to smoke out the rest of the weasels.

Somebody decided he had to go, the question now is who that person was.
Maybe it was Bloomberg, he already owns Washington State, so once he wraps up Oregon he can start his way East with his vision of the future.

"Somebody"...like the somebody(s) that put the post turtle Obama into office. The somebody(s) who give well-intentioned representatives that 2:30am phone call explaining how things "will" work from this point on...now that they are in office.

I hate to be negative, but as time goes by and I have the opportunity to look backwards and see the political trending, it sure seems like the game is rigged and we all play the fool when we go to the polls.

Six pages of whining and complaints under the guise of being "gun rights related".

It's a shame JR stepped down. He did it because he had to, not seeing that only shows the lack of understanding of Oregon ethics laws. And the thought that his resigning within months of his election is a plot tells me many here still have their tin foil hats on too tight. None of that speaks to the purpose of the thread, and there have been few posts that have (her voting record, Oregon firearm stats, etc.)

Unfortunate little has changed.

Some one needs to draft a letter to our new tree hugger governor an inform her that any support of anti gun laws or gun control laws or rules will result in a formal recall petition. An have every gun owner in Oregon sign it. Best I can come up with.
Can you recall someone who wasn't elected in the first place???????:(

More than a few posts like that are redundant IMO but here are some of the stats again. At this point it's in the best interest of gun owners to discredit her on all fronts. Her strange ascension into Office is fair game as well as the Comcast influence scandal and her illegal use of campaign funds.
