Seriously, now is the time to open an ammo shop on the border with California. Sales would be through the roof! This going to cause a huge sales increase for dealers in bordering states.

Psssst, keep it down. Dont you feel bad for us SOUTHERN OR? The next thing I want is going to Wally World to buy ammo and they have to check our OR ID :-(

Just for the record, I know that many people from the Kalifornia Soviet Socialist Republik come to Ashland and Medford to buy ammo. The only way I see to stop this is if der Fuhrer Schwartzenegger puts up inspection stations on the border to check the cars - of people entering the state - for ammo. Would you like to be shook down every time you go to visit there? NOT ME!!!

Shouldn't happen. More business=more tax money=government reluctance to pass restrictions. It's just like fireworks. Ever notice how non-fireworks states are bordered by at least one VERY fireworks friendly state? Money talks.

Hey, Benny. I haven't driven into Kalifornia for somewhere between 20 and 30 years. Although I live 30 miles from the border, there is NOTHING there that I want. When I go traveling or visiting, I stay in Oregon and Washington. These 2 states have everything I want or need!

California is not the rest of the union, thankfully.

Anyone want to open a gun shop together on the AZ or OR border? I'm thinkin' the economy in those areas for that just got really good.

Ashland is a very liberal town. I think it is kind of an outpost of Kalifornia style anti-Americanism. As far as I know there is only one store that sells ammo there and that is Bi-Mart. I'm not sure but I believe that probably the largest part of their ammo sales would be to Kalifornians who sneak across the border for a breath of FREE air.

(10-12) 18:28 PDT SACRAMENTO -- People buying ammunition in California will soon have to be thumbprinted and dealers will have to keep records of sales, under legislation that Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed into law.

After vetoing similar bills three times since 2004, Schwarzenegger signed AB962 by Assemblyman Kevin de León, D-Los Angeles, on Sunday, saying he now believes it will promote public safety.
The measure is California's first statewide regulation of ammunition sales. It survived close votes in both the Assembly and state Senate and strong opposition from gun-rights organizations, which succeeded in stripping a provision that would have required sellers of more than 50 rounds of ammunition a month to be licensed by the state.
Starting in July, the law will require dealers to keep records of handgun ammunition sales for at least five years, and store the bullets securely out of customers' reach.
Like gun transactions, all ammunition sales will have to be face-to-face, a requirement that will force online buyers to arrange delivery of ammunition to a seller in California. Another provision makes it a crime to knowingly sell or give ammunition to someone who cannot possess it legally, including felons, gang members and the mentally ill.
As of February 2011, all ammunition buyers will have to provide a driver's license or other state identification and a thumbprint.
De León said Monday that the bill gives police "a valuable tool to crack down on armed, dangerous criminals and gang-bangers in our communities."
Opponents said the restrictions would burden gun owners and dealers without impeding criminals.
"Ammunition or ammunition purchaser registration, in any form, serves only to infringe upon the rights of law-abiding citizens," Gun Owners of California said while the bill was before the Legislature.
In signing the bill, Schwarzenegger said local governments that require record-keeping for ammunition sales have enabled police to arrest many illegal purchasers. Governments that regulate ammunition sales include San Francisco, Oakland, Tiburon and Contra Costa and Marin counties.
"Utilized properly, this type of information is invaluable for keeping communities safe," Schwarzenegger said.

It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own Government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars. The first year results are now in:
List of 7 items:
Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent.
Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent.
Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!
In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent. Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns!
While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.
There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the ELDERLY. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort, and expense was expended in successfully ridding Australian society of guns. The Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it.
You won't see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information.
Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.
Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late!
The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of this history lesson.
With guns, we are 'citizens'. Without them, we are 'subjects'.
During WWII the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew most Americans were ARMED!
If you value your freedom, please spread this anti-gun control message to all of your friends.
The purpose of fighting is to win. There is no possible victory in defense. The sword is more important than the shield, and skill is more important than either. The final weapon is the brain. All else is supplemental.

SWITZERLAND ISSUES EVERY HOUSEHOLD A GUN! SWITZERLAND 'S GOVERNMENT TRAINS EVERY ADULT THEY ISSUE A RIFLE. SWITZERLAND HAS THE LOWEST GUN RELATED CRIME RATE OF ANY CIVILIZED COUNTRY IN THE WORLD!!!

IT'S A NO BRAINER! DON'T LET OUR GOVERNMENT WASTE MILLIONS OF OUR TAX DOLLARS IN AN EFFORT TO MAKE ALL LAW ABIDING CITIZENS AN EASY TARGET..

Here is Swami capdek's prediction for the future as seen in his magical crystal ball:
We will see a huge black market in ammo for criminals develop in California. Criminals will go out of the state to buy ammo and bring it back into California using trucks and vans and even cars, and sell it on the streets to thugs and criminals, while law-abiding gun owners meekly stand in the fingerprint line at WallyWorld for a $30 box of 12-gauge birdshot.
And when there's no drop in criminal behavior, and the police catch on that this new law has created a huge black market in ammunition, the government will raise taxes on the good citizens of California in order to pay for all the additional cops, lawyers, judges, social workers and associated government infrastructure that's now needed to handle this new wave of criminal behavior. And the mayors of San Francisco, Los Angeles and Sacramento will blame other states for their "weak ammo laws" that are enabling this scourge of criminal behavior in their respective cities.
I'l put money on this prediction. Anyone want to bet me?

In littlecars' post he mentions that crime has increased dramatically since the Australian gun ban was enacted. This will ALWAYS be the case. But, as I have mentioned before, that is of NO concern to gun-grabbing politicians. For one thing, they have less fear of the masses that way. Another thing, it will make the people more dependent on the "leaders" to protect them. It's a form of "Job Security" for those who consider themselves the "ELITE"!

In the early 1980's when Bimart was under a different ownership they instituted a proceedure for selling handgun ammo where the purchase had to be signed for with ID checked and recorded. They didn't care about long gun ammo. They kept a clipboard of all handgun ammo sales, but of course there was no place to submit this---nor any reason for it, so they quit after about six months. They realized that they had no idea what they were doing, or why. The new employee-owned Bimart is much more firearm friendly!

I remember being asked on many occasions there if my .22 and .357 purchases were for a handgun, and I said, "Noooo, it's only for long guns."............................elsullo :D

http://www.californiachronicle.com/articles/view/123574

A 2006 study by the Rand Corporation on Los Angeles´ city ordinance showed 10,050 rounds of ammunition were purchased by prohibited persons in a period of just two months. The study concluded "...monitoring ammunition transactions may help reduce the supply of ammunition to criminals and the frequency of injuries from felonious gun assaults. Such a record can also provide information for generating leads on illegal firearm possession."

Ahhhhh, We already have a law that prohibits bad guys from possessing guns that doesn't work, so I guess they think this will ?? They can't or won't control their increasing gang / illegal immigration problems, which cost their tax payers billions a year, so they pass these useless so called feel good laws, that only hamper the good law abiding citizens. This is merely a ruse to make it appear they're doing something about all their problems ! Like someone previously mentioned, all they have to do is cross state lines and buy all they want. In fact, reloading components are not prohibited (yet), what's to stop the bad guys from buying / stealing a progressive press and popping out 1000s of rounds, they're not stupid ?? Are we next ?..They don't call this "the far left" coast for nothing !!

And here I thought Republicans liked guns... I guess Schwartzenegger is an exception.

Schwartzenegger is as far left of a radical liberal as you can get. So what that he calls himself a republican? His wife is from one of the most liberal political dynasties in the country. She calls the shots, he is just puppet.. Remember how she endorsed Obama? Good governor, bad governor routine...

Also, the Fuhrer of Kaliforniastan has one of the lowest ratings of any politician in the history of the state, perhaps the country. It was just on the news today. HE is a total washout. HE should have just sticked to his movies where he goes around shooting, killing and blowing things up. Of course, now after promoting violence, bad language, sex and every other form of immorality you can think of, he is trying to take guns away from law abiding citizens.

What does he care? The weaker his subjects the happier he is. Gangs and mafia already rule the state the of Kalifornia. The gangs have way more power than you think. Don't be surprised if in 5 years, that NS-13 is running the state. Kalifornia will turn into a worse basket case than Guatemala or any other Central American pit.

All the movie stars are heavily guarded with guns and large fortifications. These are the same forms of protection denied to the average Kalifornian peasant. Since, the peasant cannot afford armed guards and large electric fences, etc. Now, the peasant cannot even own a gun without a struggle from the government.

There was another news article saying Kalifornia will be the first failed state in the history of the nation. The state is in so much debt and the teachers cannot be paid, doctors are not being paid, hospital workers, teachers, raod workers are not going to work. Kalifornia will soon have a large gate around it to keep people from leaving it, because everyone is going to escape that hellhole. What I think we need to invest in, is putting up a large gate around Oregon, Nevada and Arizona to keep Kalifornians out of our states so they don't bring their same mentality and problems to our states.

Yes, I use to live in So Cal.. THankfully I escaped when young.

I saw on Fox news where Arnie's approval ratings in Kalifornicate are below 30%. 26%? I don't remember exactly.

With me they are below zero, but I don't count because I don't live there.
