I'm new to the area but am lucky enough to live on a river with a few cutthroats in it, and happened upon on a real nice little creek that is beautiful and full of little, wild, beautiful trout. I was going through some of these pictures tonight and thought I would share. Hope you all enjoy.

And one random pic I found of a brook trout I caught out of a little mountain stream on a hot August day back east.

Beautiful little fish! Cuts can have a lot of color.

Reminds me of a time years ago I hiked into a high mt lake w/my cousin and an inflatable kayak to spend a couple days fishing for brookies. We got into the lake about noonish, set up a little camp, put some air in the kayak and got going. You could see the bottom in 15 ft of water like it was right under your hand. We started catching little brook trout but nothing we wanted to keep, especially knowing there were some bruisers in the water. Around 5, after getting are thumbs rashed up from pulling hooks out of the little trouts mouths (brook trout have some teeth) my cousin sheepishly said "ya know, the size limit is 8 inches". We let a few more go then started back toward camp keeping whatever we caught for dinner. I think we got 4 or 5 just legal ones but heck, we put 'em in our bellies and thought they were pretty good little fish :)

Not as much happened last year, fishing wise, as I would have liked. But here goes.

Fished with my brother on a nameless lake.

Fish from streams are so much stronger and more fun that fish from still waters. Current hardens a fish. Ive caught some pretty lively trout out of streams on a 3wt fly rod or an ultralight and a spinner.

A lot of my childhood was exploring places like this with a rod in hand. Thank you for the pics!

Hopefully this will be a good year for all I plan on doing more fishing this year got some money saved up to get a new motor for my big boat or just buy a new boat lol got vacation plans for Oregon and northern California SHASTA lake crab around the San Juan islands good luck every one FISH ON

Kokanee are fun to catch and are very good eating. I remember fishing Lake Billy Chinook for them in the early 80's and the trick was to get your line down deep as fast as you could for the big ones, 16 to 20 inches. The smaller ones would be closer to the top with size increasing as you went deeper. So I would stop the boat and let the line out to the required depth and resume trolling rather than let out my line trolling which the smaller fish would hit the lures while trying to get down to the depth the larger ones were at. All were good eating baked wrapped in foil with butter, salt and pepper. They would melt in your mouth.

We did. What was it called.... lol SHHH:p
Well, if I can recall it was on the back end of some island or something, so you really better not mention that name around me!
Have a WA license burning a hole in my pocket and 5 months to use it!!!

This is about all I caught last year...
