Welcome to the forum. I used to go hunting with my dad as well...well he called it hunting, but I determined it was really just his quiet time away from the house. I am not even sure he ever loaded his shotgun. He would find a quiet spot and lean back against a tree and nap.

My great grand father came west in a covered wagon and homesteaded a ranch in northern California. I too spent time on that same ranch hunting every summer while I grew up.
My family took hunting very seriously. For the older members there was a time when a missed shot meant no dinner on the table.
