I'm as conservative as they come, but if the Democrats do win the presidency again, and there's at least a decent chance they will, I would pick Bernie Sanders a million times over Hillary Clinton. Therefore, I just registered as a Democrat for the first time in my 46 year long life in order to vote in their primary.

Anyone else considering this?

P.S. To keep this firearm-related, my motivation is to elect the least anti-gun candidate.
Yes, I've thought about doing this for perhaps a slightly different reason: That is to vote against Clinton in order to steal votes from her, knowing that Sanders doesn't have a chance against the top three Republicans. This would place Bernie as the Dem. winner of the primaries but losing in the general election.

Of course, as with all such things, it's easier said than done and would require grass-roots tactics combined with a moral/ethical decomposition which we could never achieve to a level at which the democrats have become so adept. Of course, it is likely that this is exactly what they're doing on the other side of the "isle".

'Might be better off to get all of our gun-toting friends to come out of the bush long enough to cast their ballots.

I was none partisan all my life just voted for where I wanted, two years ago I changed to Republican, and quickly regretted doing so. I am a conservative but I am not a Republican nor Democrat watching Republicans leave Obamacare in place, and leaving the King on his throne left me with regretting that choice. I seldom if ever vote Democrat, mostly was Reps, Ind, or Libertarians. Dems always always want bigger bigger government and then try and blame Republicans cause were broke from paying for all that big government so lets tax more rich people what? How about removing the fat, do we need 223million for a population of 50 case Gravina Island Bridge, 500,000 for Sparta Teapot Museum ?? Really. There are even studies paid for to see what happens when mice get drunk, WTF....................I'll stop now before I need some Alkalselzer

Oh well DH out !

I just changed from non-affiliated to republican, so I can vote for Trump in the primary. If he wins, he'll be driven by his huge ego to live up to his promises - and in the process, he'll likely upset the political establishment even more than he has already. Should be interesting, like throwing a wolf into a chicken coop.

I heard him say he has a CHL. Makes me grin.

To each there own, but hell no. I work way to hard for my money to give up 60% each year.
I'm not gonna Vote for Bernie cause he loves guns more. I'm gonna vote republican. If the dyke wants my guns, it's easier to keep those, and have more money to support all the other items we need.
By the way, trump is gonna win by a landslide.

Socialist-flavored fascism, or fascist-flavored socialism - what's the difference? At least the advantage of the Dems is that they sell a lot of guns. Oh, and that they are more honest about their intentions (which is how they sell a lot of guns).

This is a game that is not worth playing.

I considered such dodges myself a while back, but then I came to my senses. The R's are just as bought off as the D's are. They are just a little less honest about it.

To me the thing to do is withdraw your sanction. Stop voting. Let the chips fall where they may, and prepare for the coming revolution. That is the area where your efforts can actually pay off, unlike the voting game.
And what are you going to use to fight with in this coming revolution after all the guns are taken away? Use your vote wisely and skip the revolution if that would be possible.

I registered as a Democrat years ago. Never voted for Clinton, never voted for Obama.

I really have not found any politician that I like a lot, or at least not one who ever ran in the general election.
Most of my friends tell me that I am conservative, but I think I am liberal. I don't give a hoot what the gay population does. I think we should start something like Truman did and establish work programs for people who are homeless. (CCC, WPA, and NRA) No, that is not the National Rifle Association. As long as they are working, they can get food and housing and free child care. Yes, mothers of small children can contribute too if they want to eat and get housing and clothing. There could be a small wage included in that. Free birth control could be included to help them provide for the children they already have without adding another mouth to feed.

I would do everything I could to keep religion out of politics. I don't care what religion you are, I don't think it is appropriate to shove it down everyone else's throat. If I don't want to worship God the same way you do, that's my business, not yours.

I think everyone should be required to do two years of government service before they are allowed to vote. Not necessarily in the military, but military service would count the same as other service.

I think that people on welfare should have to take drug tests before they can get a welfare check.
Better yet, put them in a work program and eliminate welfare.

I think that people who sell drugs to children should get the most severe penalty possible, but that does not include death. If they are dead there is nothing more we can do to them. I could get real creative with what I could do to them.
It wasn't Truman who initiated WPA,or the CCC programs it FDR

Socialism is where the government owns all the means of production -- resources, factories, etc. I haven't heard any candidates suggesting that. I try to think who will help the average CITIZEN. Who is most likely to counter the big money flowing into government through lobbyists etc. Who will try to reform the campaign contribution mess -- and possibly influence the movement to overturn Citizens United.

The Supreme Court has certainly not been the friend of the average CITIZEN lately. Trump and Cruz both seem like nut jobs to me.
I like Bernie but suspect Hillary will get the nomination as more electable.
Lastly, I don't vote on a single issue like guns or whether the candidate is anti-abortion. I don't like abortion but it isn't the only issue and I'm not voting for a nut case or Attila the Hun based on one issue.

And what are you going to use to fight with in this coming revolution after all the guns are taken away? Use your vote wisely and skip the revolution if that would be possible.

If they come to take my guns, that is the revolution starting - for me. That's when the fight starts. There is no voting ourselves out of the coming mess. The debt is not getting smaller, it is getting much larger. The congresscritters have no incentive to act wisely, they are all working in their own (short term) interest. The president is acting like any tyrant would, and so will his replacement. Stop drinking the government coolaid, give up on the government religion, look at the history of empires.

For the average CITIZEN, the government may be your only friend. ( as bad as it is ) Stop drinking the Glen Beck/Rush Limbaugh coolaid. The wealthy and corporations will send your job to India, destroy what's left of the labor unions that used to give the regular guy a living wage, declare bankruptcy so they can chop down your earned retirement pension -- and the list goes on.
Now if you think you can compete with big money, go for it -- live off the land? grow pot?

Regardless of how I vote in the Primary Election, there WILL be a Republican candidate on the General Presidential Election ballot. I WILL cast my vote for that Republican candidate when the time comes, but I don't believe there is a single Republican candidate that moderate Democrats will support even if Hillary makes the Democratic nomination. In that case, which is highly likely the way things look now, I would much rather have Sanders on the Dem ballot than Hillary.

In a perfect world, Hillary will be in prison by the time November comes around...

Attempted a reply, but the system produced the previous post attributed to me. A "delete" or "edit" capability would be helpful.

FWIW, "moderate" Democrats live in the same nonexistent reality as "moderate" Muslims.

Must be the same reality Trump lives in. All I know about Cruz is that people who have worked with him apparently can't stand him.

But actually I suspect Trump is just saying what gets his name in the headlines. After the primary we may hear what he actually believes because if nominated, he then has to appeal to the population at large if he plans to win.

Lots of truth here. Big biz is only in it for money. But when you say that, people think your a gelded whimp.
Nope.
Board of directors don't care about us. Period!!
And Glenn beck is a drama queen. Also in it for the money.

Not true.

To prove you wrong I give you the machine gun owning state Senator Betsy Johnson.

Now if the rest of you guys would work harder to keep your Democrats under control, we would not need to have this discussion.
