I'm as conservative as they come, but if the Democrats do win the presidency again, and there's at least a decent chance they will, I would pick Bernie Sanders a million times over Hillary Clinton. Therefore, I just registered as a Democrat for the first time in my 46 year long life in order to vote in their primary.

Anyone else considering this?

P.S. To keep this firearm-related, my motivation is to elect the least anti-gun candidate.

I went the opposite way and change from Democrat to Republican.

I would take Bernie over Hillary any day, although either one would be a disaster.

I don't like the idea of switching parties just to vote in the primary in order to nominate
the less desirable candidate. I would not like it if a Democrat did it to the Republican
primary either. Let each party determine who they want their candidate to be.

Some Conservatives and Republicans have suggested Joining the Dem Party to pick the least anti-gun amongst them as Republicans are fading away fast.

It's the only way to get some representation against the Progs.

I have never had a Party affiliation but have mostly voted R.
Here in Oregon I always vote R until some balance is restored.
I'll be Voting at least one more time, maybe two before I leave this State.

I would pick IDI AMIN over Hillary but keep the faith. There is NO WAY Bernie could EVER win a national election. Hillary will collapse soon and it will be Biden vs Trump.

I would sooner put my eye out that vote for a socialist and a bwitch who left Americans hanging out to die.

Nice defeatist attitude there, and changing over to the Demorats just to vote in their primary means your conservative claim is the biggest load of troll horsesh*t I have heard in years. Changing and voting Demorat does nothing for the conservative view so save us the BS. I am shocked you are in Lane County.

... and just think, not too long ago some morons tried to get "open primaries" passed here in Oregon where the top two vote getters squared off in the general election. That'd mean two lefties running for the same office... it'd be like deciding to turn your underwear inside out for day two!

There has to be a saturation point. Everybody can't be happy with the Tents in the Parks and the bums begging on every corner. $15 min wage, sky high gas tax, war on gun rights etc.
Some of these Dem Politicians must be Dinos.

I'm still waiting for it.

Please recall that I can still vote for whoever I choose in the presidential election, and it won't be a Democrat. I'm just trying to do my part to get the lesser of two evils on their ballot in case we lose...

Yes, and I voted against that measure for that exact reason!

Right, because you know everything about me based on your interpretation of a forum post...

Agreed! And just to inject a little reality, the polls say the only Republican Hillary can beat is Trump, and no Republican beats Sanders.

I've heard more'n one person say if The Donald is the nominee, then it's going to be Sanders instead.

To hear Hillary tell it, Sanders has voted for some NRA-favored legislation, including opposing an assault weapon ban, which makes him a terrible Democrat.

Interesting times in which we live.

So instead of voting for a pro gun republican because you think they can't win an election you give up completely and switch sides so you can give the enemy a better chance of winning the presidency.

Im voting for any of the repulicans (although I'd prefer Rand Paul or Ted Cruze) running over any democrat even though I live in a blue state based on principal. I think that's a low position to take.

Instead of jumping ship and abandoning hope you really should fight for your beliefs. However it is a free country and your free to do as you please.
