I am a recent arrival, and moved here to be close to family. I'm loving OR so far. I have been a firearms owner for 12 years or so, and was active in buying and selling firearms and parts on my previous state's forum. I am looking forward to joining a club, hopefully without a long wait, and getting back on the range. Can anyone suggest a good shooting place within an hours' drive of Lake Oswego?

Welcome! What do you shoot?

Shotgun:
Portland Gun Club
Vancouver Trap Club
Douglas Ridge Rifle Club

Rifle / Pistol:
Douglas Ridge Rifle Club
Tri-County Gun Club
SafeFire

There are other smaller clubs around, but this is a good start.

Their waitlist is around 18 months? I was a member for 6 plus years, but had a falling out with them a few months ago and I'm no longer a member there and have moved on. Albany is now my "home" club.

Politics aside, TCGC is arguably the most well rounded club around. The club has a very "park like" feel to it. Depending on the season, time of day etc, you can find yourself having all 160+ acres to yourself! I will definitely miss that aspect of it……

Welcome Aboard. Glad you found the forum.

This is the best place to hang out on the internet.

Check out the organized clean ups. It's the best way to meet the community and learn where and how to use public lands responsibly.

We are doing non ODF supported cleanups at public forests - check the North Fork Wolf Creek Road thread in resources.

If you really want to get involved in community action check out Trash No Land.
