I remember him being one of the four veterans highlighted in Ken Burns documentary about World War II.
That was a VERY well done show. I have watched it a couple times and bought a set of the discs. I have loaned them to a few younger people I work with to take home and watch. They were always shocked at what they never were told is school. When I was a kid there were WWII vets everywhere. I never really understood why none of them wanted to talk about it until watching that series. Really shined a light on it. Now most kids know nothing of what it was like other than being told how the US was a monster.
