As a professional historian I was thinking about why no one had come up with this yet. it was one of the causes of the Indian Mutiny against the British Empire back in the 1850s. Seems the paper cartridges had pork fat to seal them, water resistance, etc.

Anyone Hear the story of Black Jack Pershing and Pigs Blood Bullet?
The story goes that General Pershing in WWI was confronted by Islamic Extremists and he solved it by executing 49 with bullets dipped in pigs blood. He let the 50th terrorist go home and their where no more extremists in his area and in the world for 42 years. Now that is medieval justice conducted on medieval minds.
