Credit given to the New York Times for reporting the death of James Brady, who did the un-American thing of creating Handgun Control, Inc, then The Brady Campaign, among other names that had to be changed because every time the pro-gun crowd figured out where they were hiding they were exposed to the light- and like cockroaches they would change their name again to hide in the darkness of ignorance.

Edited for distasteful content (deadeye).

He didn't ask to get shot in the head by a lunatic assassin and it really isn't his fault that other people cynically took advantage of his misfortune to advance their agenda. He was little more than a visual prop that they wheeled out to garner sympathy and raise funds for their cause. My understanding is that his injuries left him intellectually impaired. As far as I am concerned he gets a free pass, I prefer to save my anger and contempt for the hypocrites like Bloomberg and Pelosi who actively seek to take our rights away. Celebrating the mans death is heartless and disgusting, he was a human being with a family who didn't deserve what happened to him.

OK- I'll meet you on this part as you've written it. You're right- if you're wrong, it's not by very much.

I met the man a couple of times. He supported my national fraternities charity and he would often make appearances at our national conclaves. I even sat in a room with him and the country group Alabama during a card game one night in Virginia. I got the impression it was his wife that drove the anti-gun rhetoric...not him.

My only issue with James Brady and his wife is their continued delusion that guns were the main reason for crimes committed by people with firearms. "If Hinckley didn't have that .22, then I would not have been shot.." While this sounds attractive to the ignorant and ill-informed, it is a butchering of logic and reasoned thinking. They were also unable to hold people accountable because they fear confrontation, and were really about collecting votes to have government control firearms. To me, it's a mental illness issue to suspend logic and delude yourself into thinking an inanimate object is the reason for human crime. Humans who commit crimes are the only ones to blame. There are bad people, and there are good people. It's pretty simple. Spoons don't make people fat, cars don't make people drive drunk, and guns don't make people violent. Believing otherwise is delusional and the people who believe that should seek medical help for their inability to see reality and process logic.

James Brady was only the poster boy, Sarah was the brains of the outfit.

I remember reading intercepted Emails of a conversation with Sen. Schumer, and Sarah Brady from back in the '90s.
Sarah opened up with something like: If we are to realize the Socialistic nation we both envision we must find a way to disarm all of the warriors returned from Viet Nam.

Now remember this was back in the '90s when the term "Socialism" was not as accepted as today , and those "warriors" were still in their 40s.
This leaves little doubt as to the real agenda of "sensible" gun legislation from the Brady Bunch.

Those "e-mails" are nothing but internet myth. Disproven years ago when all the correspondence of the time became public materials. I am sure she thinks something very similar to that (except for the socialist part since she and her husband were both republican conservatives), but she never put it in an e-mail or said it out loud. Repeating false info makes us look bad.

I don't remember where, or by whom, but I do remember thinking the source was reliable.
I don't make a habit of promoting rumors and such...I'll research later tonight for both "myth" and otherwise....if "myth" thanks for the heads up.

It was first printed in Machine Gun News, June 1991, Volume 5, Number 1, page 6. The source most people quote it from though is the National Educator (which has ties to white power groups). The story had already been debunked before the National Educator reprinted it.

It's been a long time, but I'm fairly certain that I read about this in '94.
I haven't read either one of those publications...wish I could remember...maybe it'll come to me when I start to fall asleep,.

Now you have me curious. As you stated the story should have been debunked for quite some time previous to my reading it....I love a good mystery.

Lies die hard on the internet...and sometimes not at all.

Without a doubt, his WIFE, continued to stir the pot, i can understand this to a point. But, she seemed to me, to use him for all he was worth. President Regan was shot as well, that was huge, he survived, and there was never a big deal actually made about it. But, he wasn't impaired like James Brady was.
