Hello,

I don't post a lot in here but I've been gone awhile.
If anyone missed me I thought I'd explain what happened.

What did I do to exercise today?
Well, I am glad you asked.
I'm walking.
And walking some more.
Up and onward............tally ho!
And I'm using a walker to do it.
I know, sounds redundant.

The reason I am walking is because that is about all I can do right now.
On June 16th I had a heart attack. Not too bad of one, but still................
Aid car came and stabilized me and off we go to the hospital.
Hospital calmed me down and did their thing.
I slept through the night (good drugs) and in the morning they scheduled an angio.
On the angio table I had what they called a 'massive heart attack'.
Go big or go home I guess. I remember nothing about this or anything else for the next 4 days.
Surgery was 7 hours and change and the last thing the doctor told my wife
before starting was "it's serious and he may not make it".

I did make it just in case you're wondering, but doctor said it will be a long haul
as there is a lot of damage to my heart.
They did a 5-way bypass. Go big or go home again I guess.
4 days in ICU, didn't wake up for 3 days, 2 weeks in cardiac ward and 5 weeks in rehab.
It took me 2 weeks to be able to walk 100 feet. I am my own hero.

So now I'm home with my wife and pooch..............walking.
With my walker. Got almost 1000 feet today but I am pooped.
Tomorrow I will be walking, going to cardiac therapy and walking.
You may have noticed a theme here.

My wife was my rock.
With me every day for 8 to 10 hours for almost 2 months.
I cannot begin to tell you how much that woman means to me.

So, if you see an old man, a bit beat up around the edges, hanging on to a walker,
walking with his beautiful wife and little rat terrier just wave.
I'll try to wave back but if I let go of the walker with one hand I'll probably fall over.

Hello,

I am sorry that this happened to you!

I am glad to hear that you are getting better and walking.

Take good care of yourself, treasure each day as if it was your last one on earth and keep on telling your loved ones including your dog/dogs that you LOVE them!

I will add you to my prayer list for a complete healing.

God bless you and yours.

Sincerely,

Catherine aka Old Lady Cate

I recognize your handle and the steel guitar.

It's never ceases to amaze me. What the human body is capable of. What doctors are capable of. The human spirit. The will to live, or die. It's bubbleguming magic man.

Damn man I'm not going to tell you my stories. Don't think I could come close to one uping you.

But what I want to say is, my heart goes out to you. Hang tough, especially with that great attitude.

Thanks be to God that you made it! Praying for your full(est) recovery! Good on ya, mate!

Dude way 2 go bro.....hope you get a full recovery and can once again hit the range or get out hunting, my Dad (may he RIP), took almost 2 years to fully recover, but once he did, he was a moose. elk, deer slaying machine. carry on.

Keep that pillow close! If you haven't coughed without it yet it is a new experience in pain. It gets better bud but cardiac rehab will help get ya back in shape just no arms or at least full length reach for a few visits on the eliptical..........

Yes, I have developed a deep and sincere love affair with my heart pillow.

Four years since my triple-bypass. The day before they sent me home, a guy in the next room died. I heard the monitoring alarms go off, lots of feet running, 'clear, clear, ZAP' over and over. I was already motivated to get home, but that memory came back several times in the months of cardio rehab that followed. Best wishes, Bob

Dang, glad you're still here. My step dad just had a triple bypass a couple weeks ago and isn't doing so well, also had a major incident at the hospital (full cardiac arrest). He's only now able to get up and walk short distances. Keep us up to date on how you've been and progressing.
