Well, Australia is an island continent. Maybe they should rename it the isle of denial.

Women are generally smaller than men. Men are generally physically stronger than women. Women are generally not as aggressive as men. Women tend to act/behave more intelligently than men... but apparently there ARE exceptions.

There are a lot of remarkably stupid people all around the world. The Aussie's are the same folks that gave up all their gun rights over 'feelings' of fear and anger over a few shootings. Honestly, everyone that bases their political decisions around race, gender or just base emotions should be slapped repeatedly until perhaps they can open their minds to actual rational thought. This stuff only serves to tick me off (as does almost everything that comes out of Buzzfeed's site).

I think an intelligent woman would recognize her own physical limitations, heck men should recognize their own physical limitations. There are places here in the Portland area a man shouldn't walk alone, let alone a woman. I can't believe how many (and I mean MANY) people are so damn foolish as to get offended that someone suggest they may need more than their arrogant, overstuffed attitude to protect them out in the real world. At the risk of sounding sexist ....

I find a lot of Buzzfeeds articles to be fairly slanted and devoid of neutrality. That being said, I like the pictures of Pugs.

When I go to the site and am inundated with drivel like this I get all torqued. It irritates me that modern "feminists" (I use quotations for that because the current representations of feminists seem less about equality and more about superiority and separation to me) feel the need to twist every single thing they can into some form of an attack on the opposite gender. They endeavor to paint all males of our species with a broad , dirty brush.

I was raised to respect women, treat them well and take care of them to the best of my abilities. I refuse to feel guilty for this because a select few (that seem to be the most vocal and ignorant) think they get to rewrite history and blame men for every problem in the world.

I also refuse to "teach my son not to rape" like that is even something I need to reinforce. Any decent human being knows its not ok to rape someone. Someone telling me I need to make a special effort with my son so he does not become a rapist, just because he is a male, implies that without that advice I would be doing otherwise. Stop telling me that I have to raise my son to not compliment women, hold open doors or flirt or give a woman flowers or things like that. You remove and place restrictions on all forms of honest courtship and respect and wonder why young men are confused and acting like idiots?

I truly believe that the new era of "feminism" is thrusting the women's right movement back about 50 years. Does this new wave of feminist want to be equal or do they want to be pariahs?

Well said. I'm raising a daughter and my wife and I are raising her with the understanding that she doesn't "need" a man, but hoping someday she'll find a decent, hardworking guy that will support her, love her and protect her. She will know that she is capable of being strong and protecting herself as well. But most importantly, we're trying to teach her how to avoid the losers and creeps that seem to be in abundance. She will also know to respect men, not hate them.

I know folks raising daughters to hate men, and it really makes me sick. In fact, we've got a member of extended family that is a single mother (who, by her own admission only got pregnant from the 'sperm donor' for her own purposes), who is raising a son with no male influences, and basically teaching him to hate men too. It's pretty screwy, but that's the kind of distorted thinking that exists out there.

This is perfect. Some of the strongest people I've known in my life have been women. Women should absolutely be raised to be confident, independent and strong. Like you said, its also possible to raise boys and girls to understand the value of the opposite sex while retaining their own identity and strengths. I think on some level that's what we all want for our children, is to be happy, successful, hopefully find someone they love and to have a partner to share the struggles with etc. The last one is hard enough as it is on a good day, without the ever present fear that a man will rape you or a female will destroy your life.
